I am currently deep in #cql and #danmei fandom, with forays into #bl and #kdrama as well. I like #rarepairs and making every character bisexual and/or nonbinary. I also read a lot of #SFF and am more than willing to talk about the books I've been reading (#TheBurningKingdoms anyone?)
I've started a rewatch of #theuntamed and am noticing some stuff I didn't before. (I had NO idea what was going on the first time thru.) Lan Wangji likes Wei Wuxian more than everyone thinks. Jin Zixuan seems to actually like Jiang Yanli, but just like LWJ he can't bring himself to express his feelings. MianMian seems to be the one stirring everything up, yet WWX blames JZX instead of her (I don't think he realized she was being catty.) And Xue Yang's related to the OG yin iron guy? #cql#cdrama
Tonight I'm feeling awful for #weiwuxian because he's not given the chance to grieve the loss of his home and the loss of the people who raised him and who knew his parents. Jiang Cheng and Yanli get to fall to bits, but it's on him to get them out and take care of them.
And also that one kid who never gets to make a good shot. Except this series would be a lot shorter if he'd managed it.
The one thing that's bothering me is after WWX gives up his core, is he's still able to jump up and down off roofs, and occasionally dodge an attack, but then gets pushed right to the ground whenever he's touched. The tiger seal shouldn't be the reason for that, so what's the deal? Are his legs naturally that strong? (I'm dubious.)
I'm also sad we never get to see Jiang Fengmian shoot off any arrows, because he sounds like a superb archer!
Clan Leader Yao certainly "knows" a lot of things that neither he nor his people were present at. And thinks everyone should listen to him despite clearly having his lips hermetically sealed to JGS's butthole. 🙄
Too bad the Wen didn't kill him off with the rest of his sect.
Speaking of Clan Leader Yao... he's a cultivator. And apparently one of high enough cultivation to rebuild and run a sect (his isn't so small he's excluded from clan gatherings). Can y'all imagine that mother fucker actually attaining immortality?

All these resentment missiles and not a single one hits Sect Leader Yao. 🙄 I know that lazy ass can't be that good at dodging. Does JGY/XY owe him a favor or something?
SLYao has too many words, and LWJ doesn't have enough. Neither does JYL. JZX finally found his at the end, and good for him. And where's Zixun in all this? He's good at making words up.
I'd forgotten what a little badass #Sizhui is after all the juniors are set free from being tied up in the cave, and the corpse puppets are trying to kill everyone. #JinLing too. I would have thought more juniors would go take a stand, especially after so many juniors fought in the Sunshot Campaign, but nope. Just those two deserve rights.

When did you last travel for a con, concert, fanmeet, or cupsleeve event?
Do brunches with my local fandom nerds count? If so, last weekend I had brunch with @eyebrowofdoom and @narie and we went swimming in the bay afterwards.
How did you get into your current fandom?
I was heavily into #TheAdventureZone in 2020, and a lot of people I'd been following around that time started posting gifsets etc of #CQL. Also my friend @mary knew I'd like it & had been recommending it for months.
I'm probably doing Mastodon wrong, but I can't find any chatter about #junzhe and very little about #wenzhou. Admittedly, this is a much smaller fandom than #cql#mdzs. And I am not actually contributing any new content on here either. 🤔
"Just so" by airinshaw (21k), a modern AU where lwj makes ASMR videos and Youtuber yllz flirts with him solely bc of his hands and voice; and then they meet at a con 😍🔥 The fic captures both of their characters so well and is lovely, funny and hot.
The @wangxian#fanfic series "Quartet" (41k + 28k) by WithBroomBefore is really about friends / #FoundFamily. It's a fix-it starting at the cave with the divergence that wwx understands the name of the song 😍 They plus jc and jzx stay together, become a battle quartet and develop a 4-way soulbond, it's great. "A curse of a different color" (35k) by Nickel710 is wonderful fic that's essentially pure hurt/comfort in the best way. Lwj is turning to jade because he doesn't allow himself to feel & wwx is helping him heal 😍 With lovely family feels & ace triad jc/wq/lxc.
"Water, and the open sky" (20k) by el_em_en_oh_pee is a brilliant science-fiction AU where wwx maintains a remote lighthouse in a sort of exile, lwj is an inspector who doesn't know about the punishment character of the assignment.
The worldbuilding is exquisite, wwx's genius is front & center, lots of hurt/comfort due to starvation of human contact, bonus Wen siblings as androids.
I have to rec this wonderful @wangxian#fanfic I read today:
"The sculptor" (28k) by Eleanor_Fenyx is a modern AU playing in the 70s where a deeply closeted lwj is in a "lavender marriage" with lesbian wq, and becomes the model for sculptor wwx.
The fic is very tender and sensual and treats its characters with so much respect. It's beautiful to see a vulnerable lwj loosen up slowly under wwx's gentleness.
Next in my #fanfic rec thread: "Some things go forward" (73k) by everythingispoetry, a modern AU feat. teenage @wangxian in a hospital. Wwx is a volunteer after recovering from a severe illness, lwj is diagnosed with cancer. As you can guess there's a lot of hurt/comfort and it might be too raw for some, but it's a very soft fic with lots of A-Yuan cuteness and wwx kindness and the warmth of people taking care of each other.
Next @wangxian#fanfic rec is "To lurk, to lie in wait" (125k) by trippednfell. It's a modern AU with magic with huli jing wwx who's been looking for others of his kind his whole life. There's a lot of hurt/comfort and touch starvation (at least for his human form), some angst because of distant lwj and his mysterious magic, lots of cuddling in fox form with jc, jl and lsz, and very warm family feels.
Today's @wangxian#fanfic rec is an f|f modern AU, "I'll be ringing in your ears" (22k) by occultings. Straight girl wwx is kissed in a closet by anonymous. The identity porn and sexuality realization are exquisite, and her oblivious interactions with lwj and wq/mm hilarious. Also very hot :)
"Story-shaped" (14k) by lingering_song is an unusual #TheUntamed post-canon #fanfic with an nhs pov. Huaisang takes in a homeless wandering wwx and does everything in his considerable power to give his story a happy ending, including one for @wangxian . Wwx finally gets the home and appreciation for his brilliance & kindness he deserves, in Qinghe. And others get the disdain they deserve. I loved it.

"Oceans, drowned in starfire" (30k) by stiltonbasket is a @wangxian fic that starts melancholic, with lwj returning alone to his home town where a mysterious person saved him from drowning as a child. He gradually discovers a whole past that had been lost to him and lxc. Featuring merxian and merbabies and a whole found family 🥰 It's beautiful.
