A #Destiny2 meme leads to a handful of anecdotes that suggest your Trials card may affect matchmaking (people feel like they do much better with, say, a Wealth card but get crushed if they use Mercy).
This stuff could and should be posted to their website and app first, but anywhere else but the obvious cesspool of Twitter.

I realize I have a technicolor dreamcoat on right now, but Felwinter's Eye is kind of bugging out.
(The last time I tinkered with this helmet, it created the disorienting blast around you, not the target. Now it's the target, which is much more interesting to me. So I'm tinkering)
