@philmscribe True enough. In principle I don't have an issue with this transfer and it sounds like it'll be over the £100m being asked. Assuming that gets re-invested into the team it's not a bad bit of business for someone who was going to leave on a free a few months down the line.
It's pretty sucky timing, though. Hours before the window closes we're about to lose #Kane and probably won't have a replacement until January, minimum. My estimation for this season just went down a bit.

I'm also less worried bout Spurs if we lose him now than if we'd lost him anytime post Poch. Then it would have been a disaster... now, yeah we'd be better with him, and you'd never replace him 1-for-1, but will be ok if he goes
That said, he has 1 year remaining on his contract and unless he chooses to re-sign we'll likely be losing him on a free next season. If we take the £85m+ now, it'll be a loss but that's a fair amount to re-invest in the squad.
I can't help but think that not taking the money for #Kane at this point might be looked on in future as a mistake.
