Another amazing remix from the past few years was when Kygo reimagined Whitney Houston's "Higher Love."

Okay, so Ava Max and Kygo doing a remake of Shakira's "Whatever" was absolutely not something I was expecting to hear on a Friday in 2024.

Rediscovering this gem from and I'm struck at how I only really appreciate this song now as opposed to a few years ago when I first heard it.

I think Kygo produces the most similar music to the late and this song in particular was sung by the same singer (Sandro Cavazza) as "Without You", one of my favorite Avicii songs.

I also like how "Happy Now" is thematically similar to Marshmello/Bastille's "Happier" which I also really love.

My latest song is about a relationship (friendship/client) I had with a covert narcissist (NPD). It's taken me a long time to forgive myself for falling for her bullshit. This video does a good job explaining how a covert narcissist operates.

Different intro, different instrumentation, different treatment on the vocals. Kygo's version leaves out the dramatic instrumental break AND the ultimate (and most important, imo) verse in favor of creating a track that's got a vibe more suitable for clubs.
