NEW: Los Angeles says phone calls will be FREE for people in jail by Dec. 1!

If this sounds familiar, yes they said they'd do this before -- but this time the motion actually has a deadline + directions to identify funding.

To all Black people who read this: these bastard cops are obviously wrong when they unlawfully arrest us—AND…WE MUST STOP ARGUING WITH THEM. PLEASE. If we remain alive(!) we can always take it up with attorneys later. Yes, I know: whether we comply or not we STILL get killed.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept releases bodycam video of their violent assault of a Black senior citizen outside a grocery store. Senior Black female is pepper-sprayed, thrown to ground by sheriff’s deputy, who puts a knee on her neck. ADVISORY-disturbing: https://bit.ly/3pA3tv8

LASD usually goes over budget on overtime by at least $50 million a year.

The #1 reason employees list for why they need to work that overtime is... blank. They just leave it blank.

$50 to $150m over budget per year -- and zero reason listed.

Let's play a game: Was this written in the LA Times A. 16 days ago, B. 16 years ago, or C. Time is flat and nothing ever really changes.

If you said B (or C) you are correct.

It is WILD to me that L.A. County's plan to fix its juvenile halls is... to reopen one, and then bring in LA SHERIFFS DEPUTIES to staff it.

Meanwhile, the deputy-run adult jails are facing at least 3 major lawsuits over "barbaric" conditions.

LA jails just posted their 11th death this year -- another at Men's Central Jail, marking the fourth this year in that particular facility.

This is the same facility the county previously said they'd close by 2023.
