My contribution for the #MiddleEasternMelodies theme for #VGMWednesday is stage 2 from Sparkster on Sega Genesis. It fits the bill for the desert/pyramid platformer level perfectly.
Weird fact about me - I recorded this soundtrack on cassette back in the day and on occasion listened to this time while going through Sandopolis in Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Hello, people! The theme is #MiddleEasternMelodies and the first thing it sparked in my mind is the desert of Diablo 2 Act II.
A middle-eastern-ish ambiance that keeps you alert during your "pilgrimage" to the Tal Rasha's Chambers, fighting your way through giant insects and other critters.
So the theme for #vgmwednesday today is #middleeasternmelodies? Well, since Super Mario Land’s ruins theme was posted, I may as well share the awesome desert themes from the Mario & Luigi series.
I never owned a Nintendo 64 but some of my fondest gaming memories were playing Super Mario 64 in my neighbor's basement on summer days. Shifting Sand Land sticks out as a level we spent a lot of time in.
#VGMWednesday is all about #MiddleEasternMelodies and what kind of Zelda fan would I be if I didn't throw in Gerudo Town from Breath of the Wild?
A theme that I'm sure many of us are very familiar with, because who among us didn't spend way too long over there to justify keeping Link in their Vai outfit? :02smug:
Heute ist wieder #VgmWednesday mit dem Thema #MiddleEasternMelodies. Das fand ich ganz schön schwer 😅 aber ich glaube ich da eins. Es ist das zweite Level von Super Mario Land. Das Ägyptische 😉
Gonna share the fun, upbeat background music that plays in the desert town Ba'kii Kum from CrossCode. :meowbongo: This is my favorite town music from the game, which has such a great OST overall.
The game that I immediately thought of was Journey - a haunting trek through a desolate desert, where you occasionally see other travellers but no words are spoken.
This is the music that plays for the Sandy Barrens, which is a desert as its name implies. It's my favourite stratum in the game. Frankly, the contrast going from the previous stratum to a desert had a bigger impact on me than entering the 5th stratum.
It's also the point where navigation gets significantly trickier and the enemy encounter music changes, thereby marking the start of the second half of the game.
This week’s #VGMWednesday theme is #MiddleEasternMelodies, and the one that springs to my mind is a little something from a legendary 1990s LucasArts adventure game: Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.
When I played the game back in the day, the sound came courtesy of a Sound Blaster 16. But if you were fancy, you piped your MIDI audio through a Roland MT-32, CM-32L, or SC-55 interface.
Not sure which of these was used in this recording, but damn, just listen!
