I managed to find a collection of the writings of the late, great Scottish journalist, James Cameron. And it includes the heartbreaking story of when he - as a founder member of CND - and the cartoonist “Vicky” begged Nye Bevan not to support nuclear weapons. But, the next day, Bevan, so beloved on the left of the Labour Party, made a speech in which he said: “We cannot go naked into the conference chamber”.
