Built in 1935 as a gift to the city, it was intended for education and outreach. It was unique as being the only public observatory in Britain. I know there's loads of astronomers on Mastodon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I managed to find a collection of the writings of the late, great Scottish journalist, James Cameron. And it includes the heartbreaking story of when he - as a founder member of CND - and the cartoonist “Vicky” begged Nye Bevan not to support nuclear weapons. But, the next day, Bevan, so beloved on the left of the Labour Party, made a speech in which he said: “We cannot go naked into the conference chamber”. HMS Unicorn in Dundee, the oldest British-built warship afloat and one of only six ships still surviving that were built before 1850 anywhere in the world.
