Mills Observatory was where I saw Halley's Comet in 1986 and saw a moon rock on loan.

I just submitted a, rather impassioned, response to the survey https://www.dundeecity.gov.uk/consultations-and-surveys/mills-observatory-consultation for saving in

Built in 1935 as a gift to the city, it was intended for education and outreach. It was unique as being the only public observatory in Britain. I know there's loads of astronomers on Mastodon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ich habe heute im Museum mehrfach laut gelacht.

Große Empfehlung für Kyle MacDonald: Exhausting a Crowd (2015).

A lovely article. I have to question the sanity and admire the perseverence of Sohei Nishino though. But 👏👏

I managed to find a collection of the writings of the late, great Scottish journalist, James Cameron. And it includes the heartbreaking story of when he - as a founder member of CND - and the cartoonist “Vicky” begged Nye Bevan not to support nuclear weapons. But, the next day, Bevan, so beloved on the left of the Labour Party, made a speech in which he said: “We cannot go naked into the conference chamber”. He and Cameron never spoke again!

HMS Unicorn in Dundee, the oldest British-built warship afloat and one of only six ships still surviving that were built before 1850 anywhere in the world. She was launched in 1824 and is well over 95% original. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/dundee/frigateunicorn/index.html
