So I ordered a #PWHL Ottawa jersey for my daughter on Jan 4th.
But because the PWHL uses the Shitify shopping platform, they couldn't process my paypal payment (?!?) and just left my order in pending until I inquired, and then they cancelled the order.
"Burlington's Emma Greco played for two other professional hockey leagues before the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), but says she's never seen the kind of interest the women's game is experiencing now – and credits it largely to television.
"'People I haven't talked to in a while, they'll message me and say, 'I was watching you on TV,' or they'll post me in an Instagram story saying they were watching my game at a bar somewhere.'" https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/greco-hockey-1.7105289#Hockey#PWHL#Burlington#CBC
I'm tired of the NHL refusing to grant a team license to a Canadian city but instead opting for yet another place in the American South.
Come on! Atlanta cares nothing about hockey, so why is Bettman trying to put a team there for the third time? Meanwhile, Quebec City isn't even being given an opportunity.
Reading rule 52 of the #PWHL rule book on body checking, apparently it is not allowed to “use the boards” to eliminate, push, or pin an opponent. But that’s a play I’ve seen happen several times when someone is rushing down the ice, and the refs aren’t calling it. 🧐
Watching the Professional Women's Hockey League game between Minnesota and Toronto and for much of the time it looks like they’re playing four on four! I had to count to see that there were in fact five skaters per team. Such fast and open hockey!
Coming off the back of the overtime win against New York, hopefully we can grab a win in regulation this time out! All these games going to overtime isn't good for my nails. 😛
I went down to the ACC with my daughter and her husband last evening for the opening NHL All-Star festivities. A hokum NHL 'draft' followed by a touching tribute to the last Stanley Cup winning 1967 Maple Leaf team and then a too short PWHL All-Star 3-on-3 game. Game meant two 10 minute periods. As usual, the women got shortchanged as did the vast numbers of young girls there aching to see their PWHL heroes.
New free Prism Hockey article! It's Women's Hockey Roundup, a day late, but I think you'll see why. This has to be the longest one I've done yet, because there were a LOT of games and news from the NCAA, PWHL, and even China. Check it all out here.
Hope Minnesota are able to convert their opportunities today after a frustrating loss last time out against Montréal in which they were dominant but unable to capitalize on their chances.
Potential to go back to the top of the standings with a win.
I have no stats to back this up, but it seems to me that Montreal created way more quality scoring chances than Minnesota did. Minnesota just never seemed to be all that serious of a threat in the first period. Shots are nice, but most didn't seem too likely to go in.
Been seeing some interesting discourse on a potential name for the PWHL Minnesota team. Some of my favorites are "Minnesota Valkyries" or "Minnesota Reign".
