Parking

"Every driver feels they deserve “rockstar” parking, ideally right at their destination, secure and free – and they’re aggrieved if they can’t have it. Behind the wheel, we assume a universal impatience, intolerance and entitlement. It simmers above the unspoken anxiety of not being able to park."

"Since the 1950s, cities have been defined by their valiant efforts to cater to these base instincts. We have paved them with carparks, relinquishing wetlands, parklands and foreshores. We have foregone housing and public amenities, all to ensure optimal storage of high-emissions private property."

'The great paradox is that while parking is both objectively abundant and an exorbitant tax on everyone, no driver is satisfied. So we build more parking, and download more apps, and our cities become less liveable."

There's many problems with removing for livestock on , but from a conservation biology perspective, it's this:

“It creates an instability within the whole wolf family to go through the removal of one of their members because they work as a group,” [WWP's} Anderson said. “Removals have an effect the genetic stability of the wild population, the integrity of these wolf families, and are generally not in line with recovering a species.”

Within the 1.1 million acres that make up the #AntelopeComplex in #Nevada lives a herd of beautiful strong #WildHorses. — But for the past few years, the herd has been targeted by #helicopters.

When the helicopters descended on the herd in 2021, the horses ran as fast as they could away from its deafening roar. After over an hour of running, they were exhausted — especially the foals and the helicopters were funneling them into a trap.

"Sensationalized smearing of dozens of Tribal Nations who enjoy ancient sacred relationships with the natural world and our four-legged relatives, with gory depictions of Tribal harvest of Yellowstone Bison, conveniently avoids the real issue of an irredeemably broken management regime and the Montana livestock industry’s decades-long stranglehold on bison management."
