My little #RealityKit / #visionOS debugging tool is getting closer to release. Still a few things to be done, but I'm quite happy w/ it already. Completely written in #SwiftUI.
If you are wondering why #SwiftUI attachments to #RealityKit entities in #visionOS don't seem to compile anymore: looks like the API got changed in the final release 🙂
The compiler is as helpful as usual in SwiftUI contexts, it suggests that the API is not available on visionOS on the old version ...
I really want to get tappr.tv content running inside #RealityKit (think 3D UI dance editor). For that to happen, I either need CustomMaterial or next-gen #ShaderGraphMaterial.
(With ContinuityCamera, I can imagine all kinds of uses for RealityKit on #tvOS.)
Ultimately, this is me making peace with my code base for the next few years :-)
Yesterday, I got to demo the new version of RealityCheck. Lots of cool ideas, proposals, and visions for the future came out of it. I'm so thankful and excited by the response. Here's a peek at what information you can get from, for example, the Hello World sample from Apple
I was talking to the team about the NYC Apple Pay express experience and showed them the website, which I didn’t notice had a nice AR experience. In its category, this must be one of the best uses of portals I've seen. https://learn.wallet.apple/transit/new-york
Great to see the "Hello World" sample app being released alongside the #visionOS SDK. It's the perfect starting point to what I want to explore with @maparoni.
The new RealityView is super cool to bring SwiftUI views into 3D, but it's an area where the documentation really can be improved. It’s hard to figure out what to do if things don't quite work the way you expect them to. Can we have another round of #RealityKit labs, please?
