Today on the arXiv:

Caplan et al. 2023, "Is there a black hole in the center of the Sun?" - https://arxiv.org/abs/2312.07647

Opens with "There is probably not a black hole in the center of the sun. Despite this detail, ..."

Point for honesty?

Now I want to see a paper titled:

"Is there a teapot in the center of the Sun?"

That similarly opens with:

"There is probably not a teapot in the center of the sun. Despite this detail, our goal in this work to convince the reader that this question is interesting..." 😀

Happy birthday to Bertrand Russell (1872-1970) who, amongst other things speculated about a teapot orbiting in space.

This lino block print of Russell's Teapot is part of my series of Imaginary Friends of Science of charismatic thought experiments. In this case, the alledged china teapot, in orbit between Earth and Mars is an analogy….
