Since my portable shortwave receiver is hardly picking up anything on HF (including no WWV signals), I think I'm going to wait a bit before digging out my antenna and related gear for working this month's #SKCC#HamRadio weekend sprint.
I was awarded #SKCC Tribune Tx3 last night. Another stepping stone on my way to Tx8. Just 250 more members to reach Tx8 and then I can begin working towards senator in earnest.
Due to crappy Winter weather, I took my main antenna setup inside on Friday. Figure I'd see how my TS590 did with the magnetic loop I bought late last year for this month's #SKCC#HamRadio weekend sprint. It did technically work, better than I honestly expected inside next to my back door window. However, with so much stuff near it, tuning was tricky, and I could never get a good match on 15M and up.
I just found the #SKCC Skimmer tool. It uses your SKCC logs, #RBN and SKCC Sked Page to show you who is on the air (plus more useful info) and help you gain your awards.
I need 81 contacts for Centurion, but I think i can get it at the end of this month using this tool!
The #skcc Straight Key Month is well underway. 5 days in and I’ve had QRP CW contacts with the K3Y special event station in at least 7 out of 10 call areas in the continental United States with my 29’ random wire antenna. 3 more to go for the sweep. K3Y/6 and K3Y/7 could be a challenge. You can follow my progress here: https://skccgroup.com/k3y/k3y-logsearch.php?callsign=va2nw
