It's disconcerting to see Girma, Dahlkemper, and Davidson all on the injury list today. I love all of those players but Emma Hayes & co better be thinking about backup plans if one or more of them can't get back to full fitness in time for the Olympics. This is why people (it's me, I'm people) complain about players like Staab and Gorden not getting callups. Even if they're just perpetual backups, sometimes you need backups.
Two veteran players on the U.S. women’s national soccer team Wednesday denounced teammate Korbin Albert’s social media activity that supported anti-LGBTQ+ content, calling it “extremely, extremely sad.”
Didn't get to see the last #USWNT match, but they look up for it tonight. Aggressive pressing, optimistic passing, and some nice goals! I don't know how much influence Hayes has had yet, but they look way more confident than last year, including a hopefully reinvigorated Morgan.
Considering most of them are still in preseason form, it all bodes well for a good Olympics run.
The #CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup is starting up tonight. #Mexico vs #Argentina currently on, then #USWNT vs #DominicanRepublic at 10:15pm ET. You can watch on Paramount+ if you haven't canceled your #NWSL subscriptions already
I will give Twila Kilgore a very small amount of credit: this is a marginally more interesting lineup than Wednesday's. At least Murphy and Demelo get the start.
But it's still pretty damn boring. Does Twila really see herself as a total placeholder coach who should show no creativity whatsoever? Or does she think this is the way to advance?
