During her presentation at @DeepDishSwift my jaw hit the floor when Kim Arnett said that not supporting landscape in your app could be an accessibility problem.
I started taking some baby steps towards supporting landscape mode in Please Don't Rain.
Edit: Fixed the background color not extending fully to the left and right by adding .edgesIgnoringSafeArea(.all) to the Color in my .background modifier.
Check out the talk I had to cancel at #DeepDishSwift There might be a nugget here that would surprise you. Check out the links in the description to go directly to a specific #Swift or #SwiftUI nugget
I don't have a ticket, but think I might head over for all the unofficial events. Don't know how many more WWDC's that I'll be on the same continent for so might as well!
I'm on a massive high from Deep Dish Swift and want to keep that energy going!
I was scheduled to present at #DeepDishSwift last week, but a couple of days before I was going to leave, I came down with Covid & had to cancel. I did get a chance to record a practice run earlier, so here it is. Check the description for links to nuggets https://youtu.be/_XZHzl3R1Fo
Wasn't expecting to do a release until the end of the month, but I learned a few things about ASO during #DeepDishSwift, and didn't want to wait that long, so I put together a small release :)
This is my first tutorial-style video as well - definitely interested in hearing some feedback!
I use AirDrop all the time but I actually had never used NameDrop before going to Deep Dish Swift. I lost track of how many times I saw people holding their phones together to use one of these.
My heart is overflowing with a joy that I honestly haven't felt in a long time. Thank you so much Josh and Kari for the work, stress, and time you put in to make @DeepDishSwift happen for all of us.
The presentations gave me new perspectives and knowledge.
I got to see a new city, meet new friends, reconnect with old friends, spend time with people I've only briefly interacted with, and put a face to people with cartoon avatars 😉.
Also several people came up to me and thanked me and the other organizers for running @iosdevhappyhour . It truly meant a lot to me and I really appreciated it.
On the last night when I was tricked into closing down the bar someone (whose name I now know but I won't call them out) came up to me and told me that the reason he was there at the conference was because IDHH drew him into the community initially. That just melted my heart!
The conversations and talks at #DeepDishSwift opened my mind. I hadn’t realized how closed-off my thinking had become. Today feels ripe with opportunity.
#DeepDishSwift has been amazing again. It's a highlight of the year and reminds me of all the reasons I enjoy being part of the Apple community of developers. It relieves the cynicism that builds up in the day to day grind of work.
@christianselig thanks for telling us all at #DeepDishSwift the deep dark secrets to creating an awesome app community! Wouldn't have known this was your first talk at all 😄
