Wasn't expecting to do a release until the end of the month, but I learned a few things about ASO during , and didn't want to wait that long, so I put together a small release :)

This is my first tutorial-style video as well - definitely interested in hearing some feedback!

@MuseumShuffle Nope, but I was doing some dumb things with the keywords - I had previously heard (last year at Deep Dish, I think) that you want to design your keywords to be human readable, so I had keywords like 'bill tracker' and 'bill organizer' - this advice was only meant for the title and subtitle, though, so using 'bill' in my keywords was hurting me

So I've eliminated 'bill' from my keywords, which should increase its ranking, plus it opened up a bunch of space for new keywords!

@MuseumShuffle Dooo iiiit!

ok, the the Rabbit R1... The hardware is great and adorable. The AI that answers questions is reasonably fast, and the one that analyzes photos is pretty good too... but the LAM… OMG no.

To set it the connection to the few services they work with is literally a VNC connection to a VM running some browser. it literally has VNC in the url (https://hole.rabbit.tech/connections/doordash-vnc). No way in hell am I putting my credentials in that for anything I care about.

@pixel I heard this on a podcast last week and thought “this can’t possibly be true”. This is absolutely wild!

Opening Xcode lately (at least the last few months) has been taking around 30+ seconds before it even shows me the screen that lists my projects. This is on an M1 Pro MacBook that otherwise is still super fast. Anyone else seeing this?

matt1corey,
@matt1corey@iosdev.space avatar

@MuseumShuffle Yeah, that’s true - that’s been happening to me since the very first iOS 15 builds last summer. I think it’s the debugger taking time to attach to the remote process.

That’s an old complaint, though - the new complaint is just about Xcode starting 🤣😭

Looking for some inspiration to help level up my social media presences for my apps — any Indie Developers have examples they think are effective, or (better yet) had success yourself?

🎉That's a wrap!🍾

Indie App Sales, March '24 Edition is in the books!

Thanks to all of the participating Indie Devs, and to our Sponsors - we couldn't do it without either of you!

We're not going away, though - many dev's have opted to list their Apps permanently, so they can be browsed at any time. More info will be coming out in the next day or so about what's next - for now, though, I'm going to rest!

@matt1corey I forgot to upload my app for the indie dev sale! 😭😭😅

Oh well…. There’s next year
(Cause I don’t think I can do a sale through App Store Connect without any waiting time to process)

matt1corey,
@matt1corey@iosdev.space avatar

@mikaelacaron Ahh, bummer! Yeah, sign ups are still open, but you might be right that ASC won’t let you start a new sale immediately (I think you can with IAP’s, but not with subscription discount codes? If someone can confirm that, it would be most helpful!)

One of my favorite parts of running Indie App Sales is getting to see so many cool App Icons - I mean, just look at some of these, they're beautifully made!

We current have over 160 of them, all ready for next week - if you haven't added yours yet, now is a great time!

Is it March yet? It's really March this time, right?

That means that Indie App Sales is THIS MONTH! Dev's - we're less than 2 weeks away! If you haven't submitted your App yet, this weekend would be a great time to do it!

We've already passed 150 participating apps, but we have room for plenty more! Join today!

Turns out on the Wallflower Beta that Purchases that happened on the TestFlight sandbox are lost in each new version, and beta testers have to re-purchase. No worries, this does not cost money. I thought this was just my account, but it turns out other beta testers have it too. What did I misconfigure? Where?

matt1corey,
@matt1corey@iosdev.space avatar

@gernot subscription durations are shortened dramatically in the sandbox environments, so they can be tested more easily - if this is for a non-consumable IAP, I imagine it’s something similar

“Search and Discovery Services" is a new, unwieldy menu option in App Store Connect that currently goes nowhere. Maybe mid rollout?

matt1corey,
@matt1corey@iosdev.space avatar

@agiletortoise For me, it just logs me out. Which is pretty much how AppStore Connect works on a daily basis. So I think the rollout is done! 🤦‍♂️

Looking to provide a bit 3D depth to my bulb icons for Signals on Vision Pro - any idea what tools/API I should consider?

matt1corey,
@matt1corey@iosdev.space avatar

@daniel I played around briefly with this, but it didn’t seem to have any effect on my Path views - will definitely revisit it

matt1corey,
@matt1corey@iosdev.space avatar

@daniel So are you using it to add the curve to those panels? What I’m looking for is to lift the Shape object off the window (which I can do), but also to provide a depth to them. So they would stick out from the window, but still be anchored to them in the back.

I actually assumed that I’d be able to provide a ‘lineDepth’ to the StrokeStyle I’m using to draw my shapes, but it does not exist. I can only assume that this would be far more complex in 3D than I expect.

matt1corey,
@matt1corey@iosdev.space avatar

@daniel Got it - thanks. I can get some ok results with a z-index offset and a shadow, but it’s still a 2D shape - not really what I had in mind (and for some reason, applying a shadow to the base of the bulb draws a huge rectangular shadow 🤷‍♂️). I also don’t think this shadow reacts to the lighting, which actually makes some sense.

Maybe SceneKit is the way to go? Will look there next
