Last night, I finally got to try the Japanese-style fluffy cheesecake at #AuntCassCafe . I did like it but it wasn't quite the same as a regular Japanese cheesecake. I know, "Japanese-style". It wasn't quite as airy, like at Uncle Tetsu, so while I wanted to try it, I wouldn't order it again and would just head to Uncle Tetsu. And for those unfamiliar, I'm not referring to an actual uncle of mine. Look up Uncle Tetsu for the bakery location nearest you. #DisneyCaliforniaAdventure
I discovered last night that #AuntCassCafe doesn't have regular coffee so I ended up getting the specialty caramel cream cold brew, which was caramel mudslide cold brew topped with sea-salt caramel whipped cream. It didn't come out quite as I had expected but it was pretty tasty. #DisneyCaliforniaAdventure
Saw #WorldOfColorOne last night, and I was so happy to see that all the fire effects are back, including the giant fireball during the Moana segment. #DisneyCaliforniaAdventure 1/2

I'm glad for the half and challenge themes that don't make me feel like I'm missing out. The 5k and 10k themes are the ones I like so I'd be perfectly happy just doing those.
There seem to be quite a number of new items for the #LunarNewYear festival at #DisneyCaliforniaAdventure this year. These are the ones particularly getting my attention, and two of the items are plant-based. 1/2

Lunch today was from #BoardwalkPizzaAndPasta . Apparently, I haven't eaten here in a while because they've changed the menu. Instead of the wonderful chicken sun-dried tomato pesto pasta, they now have a four-cheese roasted garlic chicken pasta. Given how descriptive it is, you'd think it would be flavorful. You'd be wrong. It was pretty bland, not garlicky at all, and the sauce was very grainy. #DisneyCaliforniaAdventure 1/3
Putting red pepper flakes on it helped but that shouldn't be the saving grace of a dish. Also, it's hard to visually differentiate between the rigatoni and the chicken pieces because they look exactly the same. #BoardwalkPizzaAndPasta#DisneyCaliforniaAdventure 2/3
I also discovered that the wonderful boardwalk field greens salad is also gone. There's a new wedge salad that's basically one-quarter of a whole head of romaine with toppings. And there's now a Caesar as a side salad only.
Yesterday, I was lucky enough to see the last two shows of #TaleOfTheLionKing in #Disneyland, made all the more special because additional cast and friends & family of cast were in attendance at both shows. The energy was electrifying.
This picture is from the final curtain call from the last show. Everyone was in tears. What an amazing show it's been. I've loved the show since I first saw it in June of 2019 in the blazing sun on the Paradise Pier stage area in #DisneyCaliforniaAdventure . /1
I was so disappointed that #TaleOfTheLionKing had such a short run at #DisneyCaliforniaAdventure , and I felt so badly for the wonderful performers who were melting in the hot sun of that venue. So I was thrilled when it was announced that the show would be returning in June of 2022, and this time, to a proper venue at the #FantasylandTheatre in #Disneyland. I've loved watching the show and appreciate all the performers and everyone needed to put the show on. /2
Thank you to all who have been a part of the show in either incarnation. I hope to see these familiar faces in other shows elsewhere in and outside of the resort. #FantasylandTheatre#Disneyland /5 end
Even though for various reasons it would never happen, I've discussed with various friends that they could do a version of the #RockyHorrorPictureShow cast with various #Avengers and Avengers-adjacent folk. It was fun to think about that, first casting to type, and then casting against type. 😀
I finally decided to try the mis-named gyoza sausage bun from #PortOfSanFranSokyoCerveceria . It's a steamed bun with ground pork, ginger, mushrooms and leeks, with a chili-soy dipping sauce. The filling had nice flavor, and the sauce was wonderful. No wonder you can just buy the sauce to put on anything you want. #SanFranSokyoSquare#SanFranSokyo#DisneyCaliforniaAdventure#BigHero6 /1
The bun was pretty good, but it was a little bit soggy, likely because the item is kept in the warmer bag and then kept in a warming drawer, given the circumstances of being in a fast service theme park environment and wanting to keep the bun warm. In a restaurant, they'd just be able to replenish the supply freshly without the bag or drawer. #PortOfSanFranSokyoCerveceria#SanFranSokyoSquare#SanFranSokyo#DisneyCaliforniaAdventure#BigHero6 /3
My only issue is calling it a gyoza of any form. A gyoza does not involve a bun of any sort, but rather, a flour wrapper. It seems like they decided to go with the dish, but the bun doesn't really go with the Japan-influences of the land, so decided to call it a gyoza to fit in with the theming, even though it's not close to being a gyoza. 🤷
