Haven't been able to bring myself to buying a bread. He's so cute. I don't think I could eat him. I mean, eating a Mickey head pretzel is one thing, but this?

I do not ordinarily drink this color beer. I'm a Newcastle, Guinness and Modelo Negra person. So it came as quite the surprise that I like the Golden Stout, available at at . It tastes like a brown ale despite its appearance. Highly recommend if you're into dark beers.

We were stopped for quite a while yesterday while on #TheLittleMermaid #ArielsUnderseaAdventure at #DisneyCaliforniaAdventure , and I had the good fortune of being stopped right at #FlotsamAndJetsam . You usually only hear a couple words from them as you pass under in your clam shell, so it was interesting to hear their entire dialogue, though hearing their entire dialogue for about 10 or 15 minutes wasn't what I would have preferred.

These are the main items that caught my attention for coming to from March 1 to April 22. Lots of new tasty items to try.

And it's interesting that they're offering two versions of the pass, one with four coupons and one with eight coupons. That will come in handy for folks who might not be able to use 8 coupons on their own.

So with regard to the offer for at this year, I thought it was interesting that they went digital with the "tabs". It's a good environmental move, doing away with all the plastic tabs that got thrown away, but it also enabled them to process everything in one transaction, presumably using the Disney Dining Plan system. 1/3

Previously, if you bought an item using a Sip and Savor tab, you had to do a separate transaction if you wanted to buy something, like water, that doesn't utilize a tab. In this instance, I had one Sip and Savor item and also the burrito, and they could process everything together, and your receipt shows you your remaining balance of "tabs". 2/3

The pass has a barcode on the back that they scan after you order, and there's also a code (like the security code on your credit card) that you enter into the pin pad to validate use of the pass. Makes for a very smooth process. I expect they'll be using this for all future festivals where is offered. 3/3

Last night, I also had from the Asian-inspired street burrito, which included Korean marinated beef, kimchi fried rice with bacon, gochujang, and cabbage salad with almonds and toasted ramen. (The burrito is served whole but I cut it open to show the inside because a picture of a tortilla wrapped with stuff inside would be super boring.) I really enjoyed this with the mix of flavors and textures.

Dinner last night at included me succumbing to trying the char siu-style ribs from for with . It was really good, and the meat was very tender, and the sauce wasn't too sweet, though I love regular char siu sauce. I also appreciated that they chose meaty cuts of rib. 1/2

I liked the scallions but I'm honestly baffled by the choice to include roasted peanuts on top. The ribs don't need a crunch element, and all the peanuts do is make this an unnecessarily inedible dish for anyone with a peanut allergy. 2/2

Noticed that both and are both closing early today, likely because of the SoCal storm. Disneyland was supposed to close at 10pm, and DCA was closing at 9pm. Both are now listed as closing at 8pm. 1/2

Curious that has one listed performance, at 5:30pm. Even if the rain lets up, which I doubt it will, I expect that the performance corridor would be too wet to safely run the parade, even if they just walk and don't dance. can be run in the rain, though I don't know if they'd do the fire effects. 2/2

Tried the plant-based bulgogi fried rice from , and I really liked it. The pieces look remarkably like beef. After I ate a couple pieces, I could tell that it wasn't beef because the consistency was a little different.

And then I realized that what it reminded me of was the canned braised gluten that I ate as a kid, picture included. I do still like it, but I almost never buy it anymore because I'm pretty sure it's incredibly unhealthy for you. But the consistency is right, and seitan would make sense for a plant-based food. I wonder if that's what they used.

In any case, I thought it was a very tasty dish, and a terrific option for non-meat eating folks, though of course not so much for folks who don't do gluten. 3/3

Tried the Korean-style barbeque chicken from . I really enjoyed the sauce, which wasn't very sweet. I would have liked a bit more kimchi, but otherwise, a good dish.

The garlic noodles always sound better than they end up being. The flavor is pretty good, but the noodles are pretty dry.

Also tried the steamed pork and vegetable dumplings. I really enjoyed those, nice flavor, and I particularly liked the accompanying black garlic sauce.

Tried the fried lemongrass chicken dumplings today. It was pan-fried, not deep-fried like it looked in the picture, so I was happy about that. But the ends were hard because when pan-fried is overdone and sits, that's what happens. I did think the lemongrass in the filling was very nice, and the sauce was ok, a little sweeter than I prefer, but I liked the little bit of sour in it.

One year ago today, I read about a posting for a new show at the at . I had no idea at the time that meant I was going to be spending all summer there, getting introduced to so many wonderful performers.

Last night, I finally got to try the Japanese-style fluffy cheesecake at . I did like it but it wasn't quite the same as a regular Japanese cheesecake. I know, "Japanese-style". It wasn't quite as airy, like at Uncle Tetsu, so while I wanted to try it, I wouldn't order it again and would just head to Uncle Tetsu. And for those unfamiliar, I'm not referring to an actual uncle of mine. Look up Uncle Tetsu for the bakery location nearest you.

I discovered last night that doesn't have regular coffee so I ended up getting the specialty caramel cream cold brew, which was caramel mudslide cold brew topped with sea-salt caramel whipped cream. It didn't come out quite as I had expected but it was pretty tasty.
