Shuttle tatting with size 3 thread is pushing it to the max for me! But loving the effect. My PDF pattern is at https://www.etsy.com/listing/1711982438/tatting-pattern-steampunk-belt-pdf

I see a lot of icosahedra with numbers on the faces. I thought I would try engraving one of the wooden ones with those. I didn’t want it to be too plain. So, I made some knotwork to go around the numbers.

A small (~6cm / 2.25”) icosahedron whose wooden faces are engraved with a Celtic knot border surrounding numbers like a 20-sided die sits on an ornate 3-legged wooden stand.

An interlace in Coptic style. It was probably manuscripts from this part of the world that later inspired the Irish monks in their distinctive style.

Inking the border took forever (and I’m clearly not yet the greatest at using a dip pen for that) but I’m generally happy with how this turned out!

Text from a post by @beecycling

BeeCycling @beecycling Do not seize the day. This will startle the day and may cause it to become aggressive and give you a nasty bite. Instead approach the day calmly without making eye contact, pet it gently, and slowly enfold it in a careful embrace If the day shows any signs of resistance to being engaged with, it is likely to turn on you. Back off and return to bed. Feb 23, 2023 at 3:15:33 AM

Finished this a couple of days ago, then promptly forgot to upload it almost everywhere... -_-;
(Spent a lot of time uploading it to my new TeePublic store so ran out of spoons for socials.)

I've been trying to get into nordic knotwork more to make my own stylised stuff. I really enjoy the style and such but wanted a more authentic feel to it as I noticed a lot of celtic influences creeping in.

Also, radial symmetry is just so nice, I just love how it looks. XD
