Took a different look at #mediumwave this afternoon, as instead of an Asian session, I hooked up my UK/NAm Flag to HF+D. As a reference, let a check of Haparanda🇸🇪 KiwiSDR do, where Alaskans were listenable until ~1430z on 680, 790, 950 & 970 kHz, + a few more carriers like 1000, 1010.
So here's 680. Usually it has a naZi ruZZian NDB: BP, Chelobityevo, KO85uv. I've never measured it though... so I don't know which of these is BP, which might be KBRW... and the 3rd one?!?!?!
What I have is .997 and .002. Plenty of stations listed for the former, and 1 Hz difference (could be measuring error on my side too) from the Alaskan.
This is interesting, as I don't remember seeing anything really interesting on 750 in Haparanda, but here I see two extremely weak carriers, one at .9986 or so fading in around 1520z, another around .0002 fading out around 1520z.
I should've looked at some kind of reference before making any judgements as above.
Looks like my HF+D is about 0.5Hz high off...
And 693.025! Must be IRIB Radio Khalij-e Fars 🇮🇷 as my Flag isn't really attenuating signals from the East that well. The KAZ I had last winter was better at that :)
774 kHz on my fixed SuperLoop: children's singing and a brief Japanese YL announcement are lurking from behind Iranian Islamic Call to Prayer.
No doubt it's JOUB NHK Radio 2 Akita🇯🇵
Also later @1422z, found English lesson actually comprising of a long discussion on 747 = JOIB (damn, forgot their call XDDDDD) Sapporo #mediumwave#mwdx
I've even managed to capture some Radio Free Korea from that #KiwiSDR, with their monumental opening theme... I wonder if they still use it? Back then, I believe, they broadcast in 2-hour or 4-hour slots repeated continuously for a few hours; isn't it different now?
1080 kHz: Arab music, fairly strong, would've been better if I could improve my NE SuperLoop to null Cadena SER better. Anyway IT WASN'T THERE IN THE AFTERNOON!!! Another Israel reactivation for the #WARINGAZA? KAN MaKan? #mediumwave#mwdx
Indeed, MWlist has two NMA El-Bernameg Al-Aam transmitters listed on 1080, both at just 10kW, Al-Minya @ 2823km, and Luxor @ 3128km. This affirms me I have heard both, and makes for TWO NEW LOGS, even though they shouldn't be there! 😂 #mediumwave#mwdx
2 years ago I was fortunate to capture RRI Pro-4 Banda Aceh Interval Signal all the way from Indonesia 🇮🇩 into NE Poland on 1251 kHz. Back then, it was listed as 10kW, so this was a remarkable catch ✈️
Today I got a comment to my YouTube video of the station that they're now running at 5kW❗
Unfortunately I don't know when the power decrease took effect. Was it 5kW already when I received them in Nov 2021 or when John in Skegness🇬🇧 got them in Sep '23?
I've managed to snag the mysterious 1kHz test tone that's been mysteriously running & running for a few months on 1542 kHz AM.
Location believed to be somewhere in Taiwan 🇹🇼, which is also indicated by a fact other monitors, using KiwiSDRs in the area, noted the signal absent on Dec 25 = Constitution Day in Taiwan 🙂
Unfortunately most other Asians are remarkably anemic, even 1377 CNR1 😕 #mediumwave#mwdx#1542kHz
The Chinese side of this radio war must be pumping out more kilowatts than we thought...
1557 kHz, Radio Taiwan International, recorded in Taiwan, with Firedrake Jammer equalling in signal strength 😬
When DX'ed from Europe (before 1455z when Radio Lenta signs-on), RTI is usually dominant, but Firedrake can occasionally be heard underneath - sometimes more distinctly, sometimes less.
