Today I got some time to find out why my #zsh takes a noticeably long time to start. The offender was #nvm. As I removed it, the time got down from 450ms to 60ms.
To time startup of zsh vs bash:
$ for i in $(seq 1 10); do /usr/bin/time bash -i -c exit; done
$ for i in $(seq 1 10); do /usr/bin/time zsh -i -c exit; done
To find how long each plugin takes at startup, add zmodload zsh/zprof at the top of ~/.zshrc and zprof at the bottom.
phew, I scared myself. I didn't realize my #NodeJS install on the #LDJam servers was borked, until I tried updating the website today.
I'm not entirely sure why it wasn't working, but checking "whereis node" showed no result. Thankfully, running an #NVM "use" command solved this (suggesting it had forgotten what Node version it was using). I could reboot the server to see if that was somehow to blame, but nah. 😋
I have a #Chromebook that I use to watch videos, and I recently started taking some #AWS tutorials, so I got to wondering if I could deploy my @enhance_dev site from it.
Took me about thirty minutes to install #VSCode sync my settings, clone my #GitHub repo, sign into AWS with my #yubikey, install #NVM and then deploy!
