Hi there! I've been trying to improve the situation for the past few hours. I managed to disable CF Protection, and as you can see, I'm gradually allowing traffic from the fediverse. There may still be delays in deliveries and posts for some time. If anything is particularly troublesome, please let me know through the contact...
When the Twitter exodus to Mastodon happened at the end of last year, everyone was speculating what would happen if Google would enable Activity Pub for Gmail and suddenly every Gmail user would be able to post (and what would happen after they start monetizing it with ads).
That never happened but this is the first time one of the billion dollar tech giants has actively published their intention of creating something in the fedi-space. And of course it has to be Meta. One of the shadiest of the "big tech".
I'm extremely skeptical of their good intentions and I'm a bit worried about what will happen to fediverse after all those 1.2 billion MAU's start flooding the protocol.
I just saw an email from Buy Me a Coffee. Not just one. I went in, and I'm truly shocked. Thank you all for the support; I would like to thank each and every one of you individually someday. Honestly, I don't know what to say. The account balance is $350, which will definitely allow me to develop kbin faster or at least not...
As you noticed, I had to temporarily enable DDoS protection. Someone is trying quite effectively to distract me from my activities ;p Unfortunately, this may cause some issues with the federation. I will try to cut off the traffic as soon as possible and return to normal operation. Thank you for all your support and patience! :)
Lately I often read about kbin.social being similar to lemmy but more accessible. So I created an account there to check it out. My experience so far is a little mixed. From kbin I can access all Lemmy posts, although I find the interface less intuitive to join new communities. So from the kbin side it feels like an other Lemmy...
Does @communityname@server.name work?
That's how I tend to find things on most fedi places (masto, pixelfeed etc) and so far it's worked fine here as well.
This is a post to linux community (@linux) by user falcoignis (@falcoignis). You're reading it on kbin since it has federated this post. The default "front page" shows federated feed (Threads).
As for kbin.social being put next to the right of the title for this thread, I'm not sure. I think that might just be part of kbin's UI showing where we are viewing the thread from?
It seems that if kbin federates a post that doesn't have a link or image and just points to itself, it fills in (kbin.social) as the link pointer, when you view it on kbin. It's a bit confusing at first, should probably be replaced by something that indicates it's a federated "self"-post.
Pssst... any ideas for a domain name for the new instance?

What should I do in this position? (I'm addicted to reddit) (sopuli.xyz)
Meta will be releasing a Twitter clone/competitor this summer. Will you join? (www.theverge.com)
Here's everything we know about it so far:...

Difference between kbin and lemmy
