3volver,

Holy shit this had me laughing hard. Someone paid $3k for that shit? 😂

This is what happens when you let billionaire leeches like Elon make decisions rather than real engineers.

3volver,

I posted an opinion about blockchain technology and it got downvoted which is exactly representative of the sentiment. Truly unpopular opinions here get downvoted.

3volver,

Again I nailed it. Downvoted with no comments saying it’s a popular opinion. A true unpopular opinion.

“Blockchain has two distinctive features that make it a potent tool against corruption. First, it provides an unprecedented level of security of the information and the integrity of records it manages, guaranteeing their authenticity. It eliminates opportunities for falsification and the risks associated with having a single point of failure in the management of data. It also helps overcome the data silos in traditional bureaucracies in which public entities are reluctant to share information among themselves.”

3volver,

Why do you think it would be one blockchain?

3volver,

You understand, I appreciate you. Realize you are thinking for yourself and you represent an individual who would make the world a better place if you speak loud.

A nuclear power plant does produce deadly products.

Those potentially deadly products can be stored in a safe way. Your link doesn’t even claim that it’s actively killing people. They claim that it’s costly to build geologic repositories, and once they’re built you don’t need more for a long time. Meanwhile coal power plants are directly putting deadly waste into people’s lungs.

Take a look at this bar chart: ourworldindata.org/…/death-rates-from-energy-prod…

3volver,

You know you’ve succeeded with a truly unpopular opinion when you get more downvotes on Unpopular Opinion while no one is complaining that it is a popular opinion.

3volver,

I think it’s a win to have such an unpopular opinion that it gets downvoted even on Unpopular Opinion.

3volver,

Downvoted, this is a commonly shared popular opinion.

[META] Can this community add info on how one should vote?

Is one supposed to upvote posts that they dislike (as if it were “opposite day”), to show it’s unpopular? Or is the goal to get as many downvotes as possible to demonstrate the unpopularity? It would be nice if the community info included expectations for voting on unpopular opinions.

3volver,

Nah, I like the conflict as to whether people upvote based on whether they agree, or upvote based on whether they disagree. I’m just waiting for the ability to sort by downvotes and controversial because that’s where the fun stuff will be.

People should direct their anger towards capitalism, rather than being upset with artificial intelligence

In the whirlwind of technological advancements, artificial intelligence (AI) often becomes the scapegoat for broader societal issues. It’s an easy target, a non-human entity that we can blame for job displacement, privacy concerns, and even ethical dilemmas. However, this perspective is not only simplistic but also...

3volver,

It’s pretty evident that AI is incompatible with capitalism, but most people direct their anger at AI. Late-stage capitalism is the problem, not automation. I upvoted because I think this is actually an unpopular opinion factoring in the world population rather than just Lemmy.

3volver,

No, but I think unfortunately sometimes we cannot get to the good things without facing bad things first.

3volver,

I don’t owe you an explanation, keep downvoting and calling everything you disagree with “edgelord bullshit”.

3volver,

That’s your fantasy about what I think.

I don't mind CEO's high pay; I see them as a the last working person in the pyramid

I see CEO’s as the last working person in the system. They are at least putting in the time and effort to make money. The are “the last working man/woman” in the chain up to the owners. The real travesty is the owners who get all the money without doing any actual work....

3volver,

Another example of an actually unpopular opinion in Unpopular Opinion getting downvoted. 🤡
