Have you ever sat down with a mental health professional and talked through your frustrations? Not that it’s a cure-all, plenty of people have mental health services and all struggle.
I have severe ADHD undiagnosed into my mid 30’s. I completely failed out of every school I had ever been to, but was extremely good at retaining the information and testing. While having an effective GPA of close to 0, I scored in the top 5% of standardized testing, including receiving scores on an optional set of exams that my state put on (Golden State exams) which put me in the top 5% of takers in my school and would have earned me a special seal on the diploma I didn’t earn.
The world outside of school was much kinder and I am fairly successful despite having these issues which are only now getting addressed in my 40s.
You seem to have both these issues with expectation not being met, and a lot of people are engaging with you and having a hard time identifying with your very real set of circumstances.
That doesn’t mean your issues aren’t valid, they clearly are and are clearly a burden on your life, but is the problem you are having more how you relate to the world, not how the world is relating to you.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with you, you appear to be intelligent and effective at what you do, but a lot of these systems weren’t designed for people who are neurodivergent, period.
Just the fact that we’ve pushed back the point where early hominids were controlling and cooking with fire to some 2 million years in the past. Burying dead to 250,000 years.
I’m totally willing to believe there are much earlier signs of what we would call complex societal behavior like those temples and the infrastructure required to build them. We’re just going to get better at detecting and dating it as time passes imo.
It’s sad that we will likely never know why they did any of this stuff. It’s probably all very familiar to us even now, but wouldn’t it be fascinating to know how far back our “modern” behaviors go.
It’s arguable he crossed the Rubicon with his armies against Rome specifically to avoid the legal consequences of losing power. Cato was living his life to ensure Ceaser would eventually face the courts. Cato would kill himself after that was made unattainable by Caesar’s own coup.
“Caesar was reported to be marching against the city with an army, then all eyes were turned upon Cato, both those of the common people and those of Pompey as well; they realised that he alone had from the outset foreseen, and first openly foretold, the designs of Caesar. 2 Cato therefore said: ‘Nay, men, if any of you had heeded what I was ever foretelling and advising, ye would now neither be fearing a single man nor putting your hopes in a single man.’”-Plutarch (Life of Cato)
They specially mention this in the article. It does work on multiple antigens beyond ABO, they even list that there are over 40 blood types that we know of with 300+ antigens.
Did what you do at a blood bank involve an education or just a name tag, cause they have receptionists and hourly workers at blood banks.
Man, science communication is in a bad spot if all they’re doing is blunting people’s expectations and, as the previous user very aptly mentioned “yucking everyone’s yum”.
This is why people make fun of Neal Degrass Tyson, many times his explanations are both pedantic and unnecessary, which I would argue is the same as the comment that started this thread.
Especially when what they were talking about was actually listed in the article!
The Guardian obtained a copy of Noem’s soon-to-be released book, “No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward.” In it, she tells the story of the ill-fated Cricket, a 14-month-old wirehaired pointer she was training for pheasant hunting....
Naw, just give the dog to a rescue, even a no kill shelter would have been fine, that’s likely a pure breed GWP (German wirehair pointer). There aren’t GWPs just running around loose on the streets, not hard to re-home.
Just an fyi on no-kill shelters, they are no-kill because they are incredibly selective on animals they take in, they are specifically looking for adoptable animals, this would be one they would take on a heartbeat. Hunting dogs killing chickens is an INCREDIBLY common problem.
They would! Poorly trained hunting dogs nipping or biting while in prey-drive is also incredibly common. I have seen this exact story play it with a Brittany Spaniel, rescue and no kills would take this 2 year old, put it in a very brief bite quarantine, then train it.
Like it’s a story that rescues and shelters hear all the time! Especially in heavy hunting areas
Bruh it can be so dangerous, I search for poisonous mimics of (mushroom). And honestly if a mushroom has too many poisonous mimics or toxic species of the same family, I just won’t try to harvest it.
So far Oyster mushrooms are just about the safest to spot and harvest, I don’t live in an area with chicken or hen of the woods, which is also pretty easy to identify.
That’s wild! The article mentions it a bit but based on your comment I did more research, black morels or morels in general can cause really bad gastro issues.
Most articles and papers say is they are undercooked or just eating a ton of them like you did can cause what you felt on it’s own. You didn’t even have to eat a false morel! I had no idea, good to know!
You are dead on balls. If you ever get any additional experience hydroponically growing… Things… There’s a ton of micronutrients and minerals that a plant needs to fuel taste and smell.
It’s mostly figured out and you can get a series of minerals and micronutrients chelated into a salt. They dissolve without large particulates in the water to not foul a water pump. Those are either suspended in solution or sold dry. You can even check how much available nutrition there is to a plant by checking the ppm and electrical conductivity of the water.
Dead on about myco too, in soil or a soil mix, if you aren’t feeding water with properly mixed nutrients, you need both raw amendments (crushed up plants/shells/rocks/guano/insect frass)and myco/bacteria to break everything down and make them available to the plant.
That’s for things you are growing for consumption, much less complicated if you just want something to be green, or flower with pretty colors.
This shit gets astoundingly spicy, multiple groups planting extremely firm flags against each other. Somehow an attractive female character is a sign of the culture war. Both having one and not having one, it’s honestly very crazy and appears to be mostly a phenomenon on YouTube and Twitter/X.
But yeah, people be throwing every insult in the book at eachother, it was not uncommon to be referred to as a transphobic bigot on the last one of these (Hogwarts legacy). It’s not uncommon to get referred to as a misogynistic bigot on this one.
I’m trying not to engage, and if I actually want to play something that’s involved in one of these stupid fights (stellar blade now, Hogwarts then, or one of the games on the SBI detected group), I have to hide it on steam. Just cause I’m not sure if I’m gonna have to block one of my friends for being a fucking moron and both groups are rabidly angry at each other. Whether it’s legitimate or not, I don’t give a fucking shit!
JK Rowling is for sure a transphobe, the backlash against that game (sales Numbers showed how many people have a shit about that connection) was stupid.
The arguments were just something you agree with, I just wanted to play the game without engaging in the ridiculous and over the top backlash.
It’s all the same shit, someone doesn’t want me to play a game cause they have some fucking issue, and I don’t care what it is! Big tits, the involvement of story consultants, the writer of the original story went insane, none of those things affect the game for me.
Yeah see, you are one of those terminally online freaks who actually engage in this fucking nonsense. No one cared, everyone still bought the game, they just agreed with you to not get in an argument.
Same with these freaks against sweet baby Inc, or people against stellar blade because of the model, or some idiot getting mad the main character has a natural bone structure.
This shit only plays on these spaces, including Twitter and YouTube.
Edit: in fact, I have a fun challenge for you. Now that most of the backlash has ended, ask howvl ever many of your friends have a steam account, who bought and hid it. You can hide them on steam, ask and see how many tell you the truth, I bet it won’t be only 1!
Did you just slippery slope into slavery because you were losing an argument? Did you just call me a conservative as a perjorative cause you don’t like my opinion? That’s crazy.
Lemmy is the only place I can get called a liberal as fuck by a tankie and conservative by a culture warrior.
Listen if you don’t have many friends who game, that doesn’t surprise me.
Again, I like games, unless the studio is mistreating employees, I don’t fucking care! I’m sorry, that’s where I draw the line. Fuck Blizzard, fuck ubi soft, I don’t care whatever culture war garbage you want to engage in, it doesn’t effect me
No, but calling people a transphobe because they don’t vote with their wallet is literally crazy. A person purchasing a Harry Potter product is as much a transphobe as a person who purchases any item manufacturered in India, Vietnam, or China is laboring children.
Tangentially yes, but not in any meaningful way. It’s just so important to you that people are willing to lie to you about it because it’s so not important to them.
If political idealism is driving you, don’t be surprised when the other sides’ political idealism drives things in a different direction, see what I’m saying?
Also, dope formatting, the bullet points are killing it 🤣
You have teachers in school with guns it’s only gonna be a matter of time before you have new stats to play with.
Number of students killed or maimed by a teacher’s gun during a fight or other altercation. Number of teachers and students killed by a student who gets a teacher’s gun. Number of teachers who commit suicide using their service gun.
I’m not even using my hyperbole muscles, that’s just what’s gonna happen.

Who’s we and who’s the public? We are the public. The public is reasonably split on Ukraine funding as they are on Israel being a genocide. Just along different lines.
No one agrees on any of this and that’s part of the problem.
I would say currently the majority does agree that Israel is engaging in genocide or near genocide behavior at this point, at least in the US. The actions of Israel are doing amazing work of convincing people at the very least.
