Recommend me a new FDM printer

I’ve been running my Creality CR6 SE (kickstarter edition) for a few years now, and now considering an upgrade to add to the fleet. But I’m way out of the loop on what would be a good robust and reliable option these days. Would love some recommendations on what to look for in a new printer, and maybe which printers the...

AevumDecessus,

You can run their machines in LAN only mode that never touches the cloud

AevumDecessus,

The ftp credentials were reverse engineered, not sure about slicer support with regards to the AMS and filament selection

AevumDecessus,

rclone to dropbox and opendrive for things I care about like photo backups and RAW backups, and an encrypted rclone volume to both for things that need to be backed up, but also kept secure, such as scans of my tax returns, mortgage paperwork, etc. I maintain this script for the actual rclone automation via cron

AevumDecessus,

A big important question is do you want your hobby to be 3d printing or 3d printers? If it’s 3d printing, save up and pay the premium for one of the more appliance-like ones that just works out of the box like the Bambu X1 Carbon. If it’s 3d printers, the skies the limit because you’ll probably end up replacing almost every part over time to upgrade/tweak everything

AevumDecessus,

… And now this is a thing you have just taught me.

What games have you played in the last 365 days that stand out to you as the most memorable experiences?

I think the most common answer is going to be Tears of the Kingdom, and that is one for me that stands out for sure, but I will try to add some more unique inputs as well. Many are games that came out longer than a year ago, but i didnt get around to playing until more recently....

AevumDecessus,

I absolutely was not ready for this game whr I played through it. It was such an emotional journey when it all came to a close

What are your favorite video games that force you to pull out the pen and paper?

Ever since the language puzzle in Tunic that got me to fill up 6 pocket sized pages of notes over multiple days while trying to puzzle it out as I tried to and, eventually, succeeded at translating the in-game “paper” manual, I’ve had a craving for games that force you to pull out a notebook and take notes/puzzle things...

AevumDecessus,

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes has an entire manual that you should print out and put in a binder, and your manual monkeys will absolutely need pen and paper to help you defuse the bomb in front of you

What type of game do you want to play that doesn't really exist?

Have you ever played a game and wondered what if you could do something that it doesn’t really allow you to do, for example being able to move around blocks in Minecraft fluidly instead of in sectors, edit the world in Hogwarts legacy with spells, be able to fly in a world like Elden Ring or Elder Scrolls with epic sky...

AevumDecessus,

You might consider looking at Fata Deum which was kickstarted specifically as a spiritual successor to the Black and White games, and the god game genre in general.

AevumDecessus,

I’m running LinuxServer’s swag container which contains nginx + ACME built into one container, and they have an extensive library of reverse proxy configs that are pre-configured for many docker services that you can just drop in, point your DNS entry at, and be done with.

Another game giveaway!

Inspired by the previous post of a very generous Lemmy user, here are some games that I have keys for that I will not use (from Humble bundles of years ago). I don’t really know how I will choose who gets them, I feel like just using upvotes kinda awards the more creative or charismatic people. I’ll probably use some sort of...

AevumDecessus, (edited )

I just want to encourage this sort of thing, I too have an extensive collection of humble bundle keys I'm not using, please reroll if you pick me.

AevumDecessus,

In case you didn't know, your copy of Century: Eastern Wonders can be combined with Century: Spice Road and Century: A New World in any combination for a mix & match alternate game with some of the gameplay from each one integrated into it.

AevumDecessus,

Cloudflare DNS Proxy sounds like exactly what you’re looking for, where cloudflare acts as the DNS middleman and responds with their own IPs, while forwarding all traffic for the site(s) to your public IP space

AevumDecessus,

I played it several large updates ago before there was a more robust tutorial system. I found it quite enjoyable to okay coop with friends, ramps up the engine building, along with a good measure of other player based chaos.
