BaconIsAVeg,

NGL I read a post about this the other day and it took way too long in the comments for me to realize this was not about a game where you swim around the ocean as a dolphin.

BaconIsAVeg,

Honestly, we’ll probably never see Photoshop on Linux with all the ‘value add’ crap they’re shoving in. I don’t even enjoy using it on Windows, and spent $35 on a lifetime Affinity Photo license when it was on sale.

I’d much rather see that ported tbh, especially since they wouldn’t need to port a ton of DRM services as well.

BaconIsAVeg,

Back in the day, like early 90’s when they were managed by the university, they also hand reviewed each request. I had a customer with a registered company name something like “Wood Supplies Canada Inc.” and they wanted “woodsuppliescanada.ca”. They rejected it because “…canada.ca” was superfluous …

BaconIsAVeg,

Holy shit.

BaconIsAVeg,

Looks pretty. I’m not entering my login credentials though. Lemmy needs an app token system or something.

BaconIsAVeg,

PS, lemmy.ml stands for lemmy.marxist-leninist.

This has been debunked dozens of times, in this thread alone.

Proving once again, no one bothers to read any of the comments before tossing their own opinion over the fence.

Edit: perhaps it wasn’t in this thread, but in the other thread from today about Mali taking back the .ml TLD and what it might mean for lemmy.ml.

BaconIsAVeg,

If the sidewalk in front of the Masjid is a public area, you should legally be able to throw a bacon-and-Koran barbecue during Eid.

I kind of disagree. If you want to have a backyard bbq and burn Korans during Eid, go for it. But if you’re doing it on the sidewalk outside a mosque, your sole intent is to incite the people inside. It’s no longer about your ‘personal freedoms’.

BaconIsAVeg,

Why would it being a public area prohibit making it illegal? There are tons of things that are illegal on a public sidewalk. Urination, intoxication, etc.

BaconIsAVeg,

I saw lf and nnn mentioned elsewhere and gave them a try, but they just didn’t cut it compared to ranger.

BaconIsAVeg,

Viper for Emacs has been a thing for decades.

BaconIsAVeg,

Are they objectively doing this to help consumers though, or is there another reason and it just so happens to benefit consumers.

BaconIsAVeg,

Sure buddy. EU politicians are just absolute saints compared to the rest of the world, and there’s nothing in it for them. Jesus.

BaconIsAVeg,

So… the Steamdeck?

BaconIsAVeg,

User Account Control on Windows was no different, other than being a few decades late to the party.

BaconIsAVeg,

Micro plastics. We were advertising them in facial scrubs ffs.

BaconIsAVeg,

I switched from Brave to Vivaldi.

I was having issues with a web app after a Brave update, so I went to check the changelog to see what might have caused it. It was 100% crypto/nft shit in the change log.

That’s not what I need/want from a web browser.

Do you consider the term "rice" or "ricer" to be racist?

The Wikipedia definition seems to indicate it has origins as a racist term and I’ve never understood why unix users have adopted this terms instead of something benign like “themes” or “theming” which I remember being in use long before I ever heard “rice”. So what gives? Why use “rice” instead of “theme”?

BaconIsAVeg,

I remember there being a big fuss around a similar situation in home gardening subreddits because the most common worldwide name of some flower offended someone in the States, and a similar situation in baking communities, and it’s just… I give up.

rapeseed oil has entered the chat.

BaconIsAVeg,

Honestly, I find the name Nathan really offensive.

Are you going to do something about it?

BaconIsAVeg,

Which community? The post is from a user at fmhy.ml, you’re on kbin.social, and I’m reading it on lemmy.ml.

What is you backup tool of choice?

I don’t mean system files, but your personal and work files. I have been using Mint for a few years, I use Timeshift for system backups, but archived my personal files by hand. This got me curious to see what other people use. When you daily drive Linux what are your preferred tools to keep backups? I have thousands of...

BaconIsAVeg,

Meaning that as long as you’re regularly committing your work to Github/Gitlab/wherever, you don’t need to backup your source directory.

BaconIsAVeg,

Unless you plan on using that laptop daily, I’d say to not put Arch on it.

Ha, you’re right. I did end up installing it on my 13" laptop, and after a few minutes without issues decided to it onto my main machine and blow away my Ubuntu install. Loving it so far, and yeah the frequency of AUR updates is impressive.
