I agree. I’ve seen cases of harassment before when one person would block the other, but then the blocked person would comment on most of the blocker comments to harass them further.

That’s what I thought too, but then I had a look at Sharkey (and I guess Mastodon does the same), and it is possible to have private profile, that needs to accept requests before people are able to follow them.

So I guess it’s still possible even with ActivityPub?

It definitely has. Hopefully this decision will nudge people into other instances.

Probably. They realized nobody was interested in a Spider-verse without Spider-Man.

Indeed, especially with 0.19 that allows you to migrate your subs and block lists in two clicks

Sync had Lemmy.world as the default instance to register a new account (might still be the case, I’m not sure). One of the factors for sure.

Key forks are much more aesthetically pleasing

I guess if an app does not support the latest version of Lemmy it can be considered as “old” or at least “non-current”, as Lemmy devs make sure to announce API changes in advance.

Probably having that information about them would be nice. Depends how much maintenance it is for you to update the megathread if someone updates the app and it becomes “current” again

It had games (like the House Cup you can see on the screenshots) and special events, and just overall felt more like a site you could interact with rather than the dry blog that it is today.
