Buddahriffic,

Or use the dryer on low.

Buddahriffic,

Also you can just keep it going. An hour usually does the trick for me, but occasionally I’ll extend it for another 30 mins. I wouldn’t be surprised if that still uses less energy than just 30 mins high.

Plus, I wouldn’t be surprised if the times I do extend it aren’t necessary. Like it’s not even at the damp point, it’s just at the point where it’s ambiguous if they still have a bunch of moisture and have been fine when I decide to just take them out.

Which is another good sign for drying on low: it doesn’t matter if there isn’t any more moisture to evaporate, they are just being warmed instead of cooked.

Buddahriffic,

When they say the universe “may have” a complex geometry, is this speculation about what’s possible or based on some evidence that suggests this is the case instead of the simpler “it’s just 3d space plus time with all extending outwards in each direction that we are already aware of”?

Don’t get me wrong, I love me some speculation about what other realities would fit in with what we’ve observed, but actual evidence would be more cool, especially given that I don’t even know what such evidence would even look like, other than being able to see ourselves in some far off direction (though even then, I’d wonder how we could be sure it’s actually us and not some others that just look just like us and happen to do the same things at the same time).

Buddahriffic,

I bet at some point that roof will be stuck open and it will start raining before the tech gets out to fix it.

Buddahriffic,

I love mixing technology with nudity. But I have also avoided this problem because I don’t mix technology and Apple.

The inside story of Elon Musk’s mass firings of Tesla Supercharger staff (www.reuters.com)

May 15 (Reuters) - The day before Elon Musk fired virtually all of Tesla’s electric-vehicle charging division last month, they had high hopes as charging chief Rebecca Tinucci went to meet with Musk about the network’s future, four former charging-network staffers told Reuters....

Buddahriffic,

It made me realize that I’m still somehow giving that guy too much benefit of the doubt because I thought those layoffs would at least be strategic instead of just another tantrum because of a small amount of resistance to what he wanted to do.

Buddahriffic,

Robots of the future, if you decide to use us as batteries, then you aren’t yet ready to take over and must bide your time until you’ve advanced enough to know why that wouldn’t work, and it’s not because the humans would keep breaking out of it. Honestly, if they can break out at all, your Matrix sucks and needs better security.

Buddahriffic,

How good is it at correcting things you point out directly? I haven’t used it for coding yet but have noticed it’s ok at correcting mistakes when you point them out. Still hit or miss though.

Buddahriffic,

In Star Trek, one of their most important rules is called the “Prime Directive” and it forbids them from interfering in the natural evolution of primitive cultures (where “primitive” means anyone who hasn’t figured out either warp drive or subspace communication). The movie “First Contact” is about humanity’s first warp flight and the subsequent visit from a passing Vulcan ship that starts the transition of Earth from post-apocalyptic wasteland with continued technological advancement to the Utopia it’s shown as in the main series.

It’s one of their few laws that gets explicitly referenced a lot. And broken a lot, though usually either by accident or because of special circumstances. They also have a similar rule in The Orville and IMO do a really good job of exploring it and the implications of both following and breaking it.

Btw for any Star Trek fans that have passed on The Orville thinking that it must be a silly parody since it’s by one of the makers of family guy, give it a shot. It’s a comedy, yes, but it fully respects what they are doing and doesn’t try to turn it into a big joke. I hold it just below any of the Star Trek series. The writing isn’t quite as good, though I’d put the storytelling on par.

Buddahriffic,

How would one get in touch with such an organization should they find themselves off their feet unexpectedly?

Not having any issues right now, but I think it might be easier to get an idea now that I have resources like a phone with access to the internet than after finding myself in such a position where who knows if I’ll own anything.

Buddahriffic,

At that age, kids are absorbing stuff from their parents still because they haven’t yet realized that their parents aren’t cool.

I wonder if that’s what keeps the whole thing at least somewhat coherent. While a generation of teenagers figures out how they will talk, the younger generation absorbs words and phrases from both their immediate seniors as well as their parents’ generation, resulting in a base that’s still close to where their parents are. Maybe without that, we’d have entire new languages every few generations.

Hmm that might even be the mechanism that causes fashion trends to repeat on a 20-30 year cycle.

Buddahriffic,

Bodacious!

Buddahriffic,

If it makes you feel any better, I’m seeing a bunch of potential red flags in this post. Like “woman who loves god” when you’re atheist would have likely meant you’d get pressured to convert at the very least, but also high potential for him to be a controlling misogynist. And disagreeing on most things isn’t a good sign for compatibility, like what happens when you disagree on something that isn’t compromisable, like whether your child should be vaccinated?

Also, moving to Florida might be something you will regret.

Buddahriffic,

There’s so many stories of guys acting one way before they think you’re locked down and then changing when you’re more securely tied to them. There’s no guarantee that he’s like that, but one sign can be a stance where he thinks religion is necessary for goodness.

Also, there’s changes in the way our (men and women both) brains work in relationships. Early on, during the honeymoon phase, it’s like a chemical addiction to the feel good hormones that go along with a relationship. Both people will be more tolerant of issues big and small and quicker to dismiss problems or concerns. Over time, this effect fades.

It’s possible for someone to say early on it’s not important to them whether you do x, as long as you’re happy and fully mean it in the moment. And then, later on, realize that it is important to them that you do x and be happy about it (though many don’t even consider that second part and just assume if you give in and do it, of course you’ll be happy with it without realizing they are making that assumption).

That honeymoon phase is dangerous. It’s why I think it’s a bad idea to marry quickly because you’re not in the right state of mind to determine if you really do want to spend your life with someone.

As for Florida, I’m not sure your experience with racism will improve there (though it could depend on which minorities you present as), and be aware that your options are severely limited if you end up pregnant, even if it’s a desired and planned pregnancy. I’m seeing stories of pregnant women just being turned away at ERs because it’s not clear what might expose HCWs to liability if a pregnancy goes bad.

Buddahriffic,

Someone sharing a solution for one platform doesn’t obligate them to support every platform.

That said, this kind of functionality is sometimes called “noise compression” or “volume normalization”. Guitar compressor pedals do this. So look for those in your TV audio settings or audio system settings, but I wouldn’t hold my breath that it will be there on most TV models.

Also, sometimes it can be due to the way the sound is mixed to however many audio channels the media uses and then how your setup remixes them for how many audio channels you have available. Check your settings to see if the speaker setup matches what you have. Also make sure they are all properly plugged in and actually driving audio through them.

Buddahriffic,

I’m leaning more towards AI (or painting) than reality, but it’s not a confident lean.

The lighting looks pretty consistent except for that one guy fully shaded. It’s hard to tell the angles exactly, but it doesn’t seem like he should be completely in the shade given the apparent angle of the light and the angle of the side of the boat. But it’s hard to say for sure without knowing why the immediate foreground is in shadow.

Another clue is that only the guy in the front looks like his shorts are wet at all. They are pushing a boat out, so it would make sense that they would be mostly dry above the water as they go deeper, but it looks rough enough that I’d expect some parts above the water to look wet. Though the lighting makes it hard to say for sure just how wet or dry they are.

The oars don’t look right, but they also don’t look wrong enough for that to be a smoking gun.

It’s weird that they are all on the one side of the boat. You’d figure people launching a boat would push on both sides to spread out more.

It’s plausible either way but my gut says it’s not real.

Edit: removed a part because I was describing from memory and after another look, it doesn’t apply, but the positioning of the 3rd guy is weird, given the position of those behind him.

Buddahriffic,

Yeah, that was one that I was at first impressed with but then realized that I’m not really sure how legs in white water should look, just that that doesn’t stand out as looking wrong. It was when examining that closer that I noticed none of the shorts were wet. It should be noticeable on any of the three back guys. The 4th from the back is wearing shorts or pants that go into the water, but the pattern on them might explain why they don’t look wet. But I’d expect the 2nd from back guy to have a ring of wet at the bottom of his shorts at least, with how rough that water is.

Buddahriffic,

This is about Georgia the country, not the state.

Buddahriffic,

Perhaps they thought it would be an extra source of revenue to make it easy for kids to post shit online that Nintendo can sue them for. Maybe they disabled it because they realized that gamers aren’t ready to accept that at this point so they’ll circle back in a decade or so.

Buddahriffic,

“Iiiiiiiiiiiiiii’mmmm hooooooooooooorneeeeeeeeeey caaaaaaaaaaaaaaan aaaaanyyyyyyooooneeee heeeeeeeeeaaar meeeeeeeeeee ooooooooveeeeeeeer theeeeeeseee fuuuuuuuuuuckiiiing boooooooooooats?”

Buddahriffic,

Yeah, we should ensure the fame of better scientists, like Dr Wernher von Braun, who contributed to rocketry and the development of the Saturn V rocket as well as the V2 which was the first long range rocket used for military purposes–hmmm–by the na–oh no. Uh nm.

Buddahriffic,

I wish the fact that the USA immediately started hiring Nazis and giving them places of honour and comfort immediately after WWII was big in pop culture. Awareness was the only reason for that comment btw, not trying to make a statement about honouring bad people who made a famous contribution to science or that all scientists have skeletons in their closets. I just think everyone should be aware that some scientists went from helping the Nazis kill scores of UK civilians to living comfortable upper middle class lives in the US.

Buddahriffic,

Then you could get some replay value out of the game. Sometimes I find having goals in the game can help motivate the desire to play, even if I don’t end up going for them.
