smuglord fallacy fallacy

BurgerPunk,

Of course. Yeah i didn’t think you meant it as a hard defense of anything. Your comment seemed totally well intentioned. And if capitalism was capable of good and not an inherently anti-social system then it ought to be like you’re describing.

I think a lot of well intentioned people can get caught in that place of talking about how it ought to be instead of realizing why its not.

They’re saying that just because you claim something ought to be a certain way it has no bearing in how it is, or ever was.

This is a common thing done by libs to support capitalism. They talk about how it “ought” to work, as if there is any way for capitalism to exist that is not inherently anti-social. Its a defense used by the cynical and well meaning alike, a deflection to ignore the reality of how these hierarchical relationships were always designed to be. Its similar to how libs say its not capitalism its “crony capitalism”

What you’re saying ought to be not only isn’t, but never was. And talking about how it “ought to be” isn’t a defense of reality

biden-point if you don’t support me you’re a MAGA Republican Jack

No he’s right. It’d be easy for the better part of 34 million people to just pick up and get out of harns way. I’m sure that wouldn’t be a massive humanitarian crisis at all. Why didn’t anyone else think of this totally humane and not batshit bloodthirsty idea of how to conduct warfare before?

House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson declared it “dead on arrival” if it reaches his chamber.

I hope thats true and he unintentionally does the only good thing he’s ever done in politics

Little known fact - Obama was president when Snowden became a whistleblower on the US intelligence aparatus

Yeah, it used to be the main appeal, then it was the only appeal. Now its just brump all the way down

I wonder which lib asshole is going to be the successor to Bernie in competitive Dem primaries going forward

The most obvious possibility is AOC. In that case I am sure she’ll move even further right and get totally ratfucked by the party regardless. That’s the most jokerified option, I think. At the very least, her obvious ratfucking will push many more people to the left like the Bernie campaigns did....

BurgerPunk,
@BurgerPunk@hexbear.net avatar

I think AOC will most likely fill that role, but it will functionally be closer to how you imagine it to go with Buttigieg. She’s a full on DNC shill, but can still sheepdog just enough of the old Bernie coalition to be valuable. She’ll be trotted out as the “radical far left candidate” and it’ll be fine if she wins cause they know she’ll only be “the most progressive president since Biden” and will sign off on bombing everything they want.

Mayo Pete couldn’t even get regular libs excited let alone attract the peoole they need sheepdogged. I’m sure they’ll try to keep making him a thing, but i don’t see it working

I’ve even seem some claim the concept means parents and children will belong to different sectors and won’t be allowed to see one another.

The conservative mind is a wild place galaxy-brain

Just show him this brump

He will immediately have to accept you’re right

BurgerPunk,
@BurgerPunk@hexbear.net avatar

Why do people accept this “crisis on the border”/ “we must secure the border” bullshit?

The only crisis is the human rights abuses and concentration camps done and run by the US

BurgerPunk,
@BurgerPunk@hexbear.net avatar

I agree, but find that timeline optimistic. I’d say 5-10

The American people only have the illusion of agency in their so-called democracy. No one can win the presidential election unless the ruling class allows them to be in a position to. An independent that could win in that system would just be a choice between 3 evils instead of 2.

They never wanted to kids out of cages, they just want to vote

BurgerPunk,
@BurgerPunk@hexbear.net avatar

This is a great question to start with. If the US was a democracy that was “of the people by the people” and existed for the common good or any of that stuff it claims, then it would obviously do what the majority of people want and deal with the issues that matter most to the majority of people.

Since that doesn’t happen, then clearly the US is not a democracy in the way it claims to be. Engaging in these bombings, proxy wars, maintaining a global network of military bases, as well as maintaining the current status quo on healthcare, wages, housing costs - all have a benefit, just not to you or the majority if people living in the US.

I remember media libs in 2016 saying something along the lines “Trump says things you wish you could say” followed by a “but…”

They basically told on themselves in real time

BurgerPunk,
@BurgerPunk@hexbear.net avatar

they

I don’t care about the Squad. I don’t support them or any US politician and no one else here does either. So its not a question of me thinking what they are doing is enough or not.

Leaving them out of it. We support the Palestinian struggle. We supported it when the PLO was the main force, and we support it now that Hamas is. The violence of the oppressed can never be equated to the violence of the opressor. Condemning Hamas is against the Palestinian struggle

BurgerPunk,
@BurgerPunk@hexbear.net avatar

those that sanction political violence as if it ever works the way we think it does

Except for every successful revolution. The October Revolution, Chinese Revolution, Cuban Revolutuon, Vietnam as examples.

The press release condemns Hamas for the October 7th attack. That’s reasonable

That’s not reasonable to us here because we’re communists. Condemning Hamas is wrong. I’m not suprised the Squad has taken that position because they’re a bunch of libs
