I've recently found that big (mostly open world) games tend to overwhelm or even intimidate me. I'm a big fan of the Rockstar games and absolutely adored Breath of the Wild, but my playthrough of Tears of the Kingdom has been a bit rocky from the get-go....
This is why I have so much trouble with the Fallout series. I love the games and their universes but I just can't deal with how overwhelming it is to actually play and realize how much there is to do. I never had this issue with other games like Subnautica for some reason.
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir has had me thinking about these things lately. This "alien" population would be in a very narrow and unlikely band of intelligence to be intelligent enough to create a craft capable of travelling to Earth but not capable of foreseeing that we would take it. That, or taking the craft isn't actually a bad thing to the aliens and humanity is somehow of use to these aliens.
So, dunno if this is a instance thing, lemmy, or just fediverse in general, but im havin trouble subscribin to communities on other instances. for example, !technology returns a 404, while !gaming loads as expected. is this expected?
Does anyone else sometimes feel overwhelmed by (big) games?

Thought I'd see who's about and whether we could get a thread going on music recommendations from what we're jamming today....
