President Joe Biden goes into next year’s election with a vexing challenge: Just as the U.S. economy is getting stronger, people are still feeling horrible about it....
And this story makes a claim that purchasing power is greater in October '23 than October '22 while omitting the 6.5% rate for '22 and the 7% rate the year prior. Inflation is down this year, but that doesn’t dig us out of hole created during the two prior years.
Which of these behemoth legacy automakers have been “spurred to dash for cheaper EVs?” Most of the recent headlines have been about these automakers complaining that they aren’t selling enough EVs and are therefore going to reduce their investment in them, which is quite the opposite of what we’re hearing in this article. This article only seems to mention automakers pushing for cheaper supplier costs just like any other business would do.
Nah domestic manufacturers just build shitty cars that people don’t want, dealerships are tacking on ADM which is driving sales away, and interest rates are the highest they’ve been in decades.
EV sales keep increasing by large amounts YoY which disproves “a lack of desire.”
Allies of Hungary’s far-right prime minister Viktor Orbán will hold a closed-door meeting with Republicans in Washington to push for an end to US military support for Ukraine, the Guardian has learned....
Well considering about a half dozen Republicans from the previous president’s inner circle were convicted of felonies for working on behalf of foreign governments, is it really that outlandish of a claim to make just a few years later?
I thought that when the top comment was talking about Zootopia not getting a sequel, when it has already been announced. They uploaded a trailer to YouTube 16 hours ago…
My coworker did this too though not at such an extreme level. Instead of saving cash like I did with an equivalent income and family makeup, he decided to take a 401k loan for a down-payment on a house. This would be fine except he acts like he’s a financial genius and belittles others for doing it without taking out loans to pay for other loans. This same guy was recently talking about cashing out the rest of his 401k because of the recent market downturn and called me an idiot for increasing my contribution amount. I guess he lives by the “buy high, sell low” mantra.
You’ve all had some very interesting answers for my last post so here is a question for you, how do you think about copyright in general and should it exist?
How would that really work in practice though? Would Disney get $100 million for making a movie while I only get $100 for making my own independent movie? It’d be really hard to assign a value to things without the associated system that we currently use.
You can counteract this with a strict timeframe like 20 or 25 years. If I create something and die a year later, my copyright transfers to whomever and they can hold it for 19 more years. Seems fair all around.
Generational wealth is easily tackled by an inheritance tax. If my rights and living wishes as a dead person don’t matter with regard to my property, why should some random stranger be entitled to it either?
That’s because us regular people aren’t in control of the country. Our leadership is akin to what you see in professional wrestling, you have “the heel” and “the face.” One group pretends to be the bad guys and the other pretends to be the good guys, but they’re really all friends who hang out in the same circles behind the scenes. What they present to the public is all an act.
