CmdrShepard,

I don’t think he means it in the way we think. It’s more likely he means “turn off” like the sleazy guy at the bar in sweatpants and a stained shirt who hits on all the women. I’d say “mission accomplished” Mr. Trump.

CmdrShepard,

I might have offended the “sweatpants and stained tshirt” crowd. I apologize for my callousness in comparing you all to Trump.

Creating a torrent that includes all of humanity's knowledge/art/entertainment?

I know we can’t do this with any copyrighted materials. But a lot of books, music, art, knowledge is in the creative commons. Is it possible to create one massive torrent that includes all that can be legally included and then have people only download what they actually want to enjoy?

CmdrShepard,

Pretty sure this stuff already exists in some form. /r/datahoarder people would probably be able to steer you in the right direction though you may need to lay out several thousand for enough HDDs to hold it.

CmdrShepard,

I’m currently running mine on Windows and use SnapRAID and DrivePool as my defense against drive failures. I think I have 7 data drives and 2 parity at this point (totalling around 90TB). Beyond that I copy the Snapraid whatchamacallit to a separate backup drive along with my OS drive. This isn’t really a ‘backup’ but in the scenario where I have several failures and no way to restore, I still have radarr/sonarr keeping track of my library and a membership to several private trackers.

I wouldn’t worry too much about losing media files as most can just be downloaded again. I find it more beneficial to make use of all the storage space you can rather than trying to do a 1:1 backup, which gets pretty absurd once you start getting up there in movie/TV count.

CmdrShepard,

Curious what was the model of your drive failure? I have 6 years now on a bunch of 8TB WD Elements/EasyStore drives as well as some 10TB-14TB WD MyBook, Elements, and refurbished WD drives from serverpartdeals in the preceding years. Still no failures yet but I’m expecting one eventually.

CmdrShepard,

Or they funnel it all to GallowBoob or whoever his replacement is.

CmdrShepard,

It’s unbelievable to see him in Slow Horses and then see him in this article photo. He’s so good at disguising himself.

CmdrShepard,

No, but an old sock full of batteries might.

CmdrShepard,

Plus the fact that Starlink is actually serving these people already.

CmdrShepard,

That’s literally the exact same amount I’m paying Comcast in suburbia. The speed it a little bit better most of the time but it’s not like I can make full use of it.

If you think that price is insane, go check out the price for legacy satellite internet and the speeds/data cap they provide for it.

CmdrShepard,

I absolutely think that price is insane, and I’m laughing at people who willingly pay for that!

And that’s why someone invented the phrase, “ignorance is bliss.”

CmdrShepard,

You sound like a brain-worm infected Trump supporter with these comments.

CmdrShepard,

Uhh this money is still going to get allocated to someone.

CmdrShepard,

This also indicates that a greater supply won’t fix the issue if we already have an appropriate supply. These corporations will just buy up new houses the same as they did with the old ones.

Furthermore, lower interest rates mean higher home prices as you’ll have more people competing for the houses when everyone (including wealthy corps) gets free and easy access to loans.

CmdrShepard,

“We have room in our ASS for everyone!”

CmdrShepard,

Are you really going to trust the testimony of a now convicted murderer who was trying to win her case with these statements?

CmdrShepard,

Nothing wrong with streaming nudity, but Twitch is specifically marketed to children for the purpose of watching people play video games. Blending porn in that with an algorithm that throws new videos in your face is a recipe for disaster.

Your “supposed to be clearly labeled” argument is really doing a lot of the heavy lifting here and ignores the reality of people gaming the system or finding loopholes and we all know there aren’t going to be any real people moderating the site just like every other social media/video streaming site.

They really should have split it up into two different sites because I see this blowing up in their face spectacularly.

CmdrShepard,

Yes, anyone with access to the internet is able to seek out porn which is why it seems unnecessary to risk pushing it in the faces of kids on a site marketed to children.

I find the incel comment hilarious considering you’re the one pushing for more women getting naked in game streaming videos like some thirsty dude.

CmdrShepard,

I’m sure with a little late night cruise, you’ll have no trouble finding a cheap handy to pickup.

CmdrShepard,

Hopefully. I want to get one that makes my farts sound like a circa 2005 Fast and Furious Honda Civic.

CmdrShepard,

How are we fucking up our ability to go to space with these LEO satellites? That’s quite comical coming from someone calling other people’s statements a “smooth-brained take.”

It absolutely is NIMBY when you sit here on the internet arguing that rural folks should have their internet access revoked because it’s “spoiling your view.” What difference would it make to any of your listed points if it were an international endeavor rather than a private one?

Colorado cattle industry sues over wolf reintroduction on the cusp of the animals' release (apnews.com)

Just weeks before the deadline for Colorado to begin reintroducing gray wolves under a voter-approved initiative, representatives of the cattle industry association are suing state and federal agencies in the hopes of delaying the predators’ release....

CmdrShepard,

They did this exact same thing in Oregon and Washington. Apparently they think their business trumps all else including nature on state/federal land.

CmdrShepard,

This is the reason why I never bought an Asus phone despite hating our primary options in the US (Samsung, Apple, Google) and really wanting one. It seems most manufacturers forget that T-mobile bands exist despite them being nearly tied for #2 in marketshare in the US.

CmdrShepard,

Same here. I work long shifts and know that some 200MAh batteries aren’t going to cut it for long before being thrown in the trash. I have some nice BT headphones that I use at home or on flights but my primary pair are still wired.
