A big red flag. A consumer buy now timer? A huge influencer campaign across youtube, and its non voting stock. In over 15 years the only thing the company has produced with over 100 million is 4 prototypes. The “factory”, if you can call it that is nothing more than a series of presentation stations with some tape showing where the “assembly lines” will be in the future. I was initially interested and followed them on Youtube for 3 years, but its always, “yeah we’re working on this and that” but I see no real progress. Maybe I’m wrong, but I have a feeling this version of Aptera will end badly as the last one did. In case you didn’t know, both Google and Idealab invested in the first one over 15 years ago and wrote off their investment as a loss, and no major corporate backers since. US Capital is just a fundraising LLC. There is no mention of the size of the investment or the deal, so this looks to me like a cash grab to get the influencers paid. But hey, I’m just another dude on the internet. Maybe I’m wrong and its the new best thing since the Cybertruck.
I got in on an earlier flight, and arrived at 6 it was a pain in the ass… I literally had to walk around for like 4 hours until things opened, and I was so tired and weary all day.
Pixelfed is awesome. Like a lot of Fediverse things you have to follow just about every hashtag to get enough content. I love particularly all the human made art, although I also follow a lot of AI art. Compared to other social media it is oddly peaceful and calm, no ads, no algorithm forcing engagement means you can safely go down some obscure rabbit holes and keep your peace of mind. Fediration itself between softwares is a work in progress, Lemmy/Mastadon/Pixelfed often does not work and even migrating all your follows from one instance to another isn’t user friendly too. Considering that all this was done without billions of corporate dollars and with volunteers doing all the work, its a nice place to visit.
Last time I checked there was no functioning Mobilizon instance based in North America, so I started one. If you have an event coming up this summer but don’t want to use Facebook or some other corporate platform, maybe give Mobilizon a shot?...
Fantastic! I was just looking for an alternative to Meetup, and a lot of the ticketing things dont quite fit the bill. Consider integration with some FOSS Fediverse payment integrations.
