DeepThought42,

He’s always struck me more as doing a poor imitation of Mussolini

DeepThought42,

This mention was found in the article: “The intent of this bill was to stop this predatory bait-and-switch, deceiving women and especially at-risk women”

The article, sadly, didn’t go into much more detail regarding such incidents.

DeepThought42,

Perhaps I’m just being pessimistic, but I fully expect he’d permanently leave the country rather than spend a single day in jail. That said, perhaps it’s not all bad. We’d at least be rid of him finally.

DeepThought42,

Besides some of the other good points brought up here, I’d like to say that it’s because communist countries typically were/are anti-religion, so it makes sense that religious leaders in capitalist countries would oppose any form of government that seeks to limit organized religion. So, they support capitalism because it’s the opposite of communism.

DeepThought42,

Just finished Dishonored 2. Yeah, I know I’m late to that party. It was on sale so I thought I’d give it a try. It was OK. Seemed a bit derivative, perhaps a bit too similar to the Bioshock games. It was also tougher than I was expecting; particularly once I started trying to be stealthier and to get the no-kills checkmark at the end of each level. Needed lots of save-scumming and still didn’t manage to no-kill all the levels in which I made an attempt at that. Ending was a bit meh, despite having low chaos at the end. Got my money’s worth though, so I can’t complain too much.

DeepThought42,

As disturbing as this was to read, it was nice to know there were still some honest and clear-headed people working in the government at the time this shit went down.

DeepThought42,

Newsom will soon discover what it’s like to play chess against a chicken.

X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, has threatened to sue a group of independent researchers whose research documented an increase in hate speech on the site since it was purchased (apnews.com)

Twitter is threatening legal action against the Center for Countering Digital Hate, a nonprofit that researches hate speech and content moderation on social media platforms....

DeepThought42,

Musk should sue himself then. Seems like he has done the most to drive away advertisers.

DeepThought42,

NC is a stand-alone city-state, kind of like Athens in ancient times or like modern day Singapore. As for the map, I’ll let someone else more versed in the lore address that.

DeepThought42,

Good, but unnecessarily long video. There were some funny bits and good examples, but it dragged on and more or less devolved into a rant video.

The correct assertion that AI doesn’t really (currently) exist could have also been better explained. Good examples of why that is true were talked about, but not in service of reinforcing that statement. Instead, the assertion was used to punctuate the examples. So good examples and correct points, but it feels like the argument could have been better made.

Tourist who allegedly carved names into Rome’s Colosseum says he didn’t know the ‘antiquity of the monument’ | CNN (www.cnn.com)

The tourist who was filmed apparently carving his name into a wall of Rome’s 2,000-year-old Colosseum late last month has sent a letter of apology to the local prosecutor’s office, his defense lawyer told CNN on Thursday....

DeepThought42,

They are either profoundly ignorant or a damned liar. In either case, it doesn’t make them look good.

DeepThought42,

In a letter to CEO Mark Zuckerberg published by Semafor, a lawyer for Twitter said the company “has serious concerns that Meta Platforms (Meta) has engaged in systematic, willful and unlawful misappropriation of Twitter’s trade secrets and other intellectual property”.

Makes you wonder what, if any tech they could have appropriated.

DeepThought42,

I use the units to increase the storage capacity of my ships, but once I'm done with that I'll probably just stop. No point then. You can only have a little over 4.2 billion units at a time and if it weren't for having to spend 300 million for each increase in ship storage (it's less at the start and increases as you add capacity maxing out at 300 million units) I'd have run over that limit multiple times already.

DeepThought42,

For me at least once I was able to regularly produce multiple Fusion Ignitors and/or Stasis Devices in a day buying storage slots become faster and easier than questing and/or scrapping ships. Plus, there's no point in trying to indefinitely acquire units because there's a finite limit to how much one can save, so it might as well be spent on something useful.
