Defaced,

What is the current experience of Arc on Linux? I’ve been tempted but AMD driver’s are so good on Linux it’s hard to look at something else.

Defaced,

Sony isn’t going to do that, that’s the whole point of ps plus. Well, it used to be, now it’s about access to their expanded game catalog and classics along with the monthly games. I’m subbed to both and I’ve always said ps plus is the better deal. If anything this just proves that Jim Ryan was kind of right about publishers not liking GamePass.

GamePass is great but it’s honestly very volatile to the industry in the long term. We’ve seen this kind of thing happen with humble bundle, people will stop buying games thinking they’re gonna end up in a humble bundle, next thing you know humble bundle is purchased by IGN and it gets even worse. I’m all for GamePass and ps plus, but not if it means increased game prices and less game innovation.

Defaced,

This is very unfortunate. This is not good for competition or cloud gaming in general. These CEOs are just spewing pr comments to make it sound like a good outcome.

Defaced,

It’s nice yeah but honestly it doesn’t have the staying power like ps plus. Meaning I see games rotate out much more frequently on game pass than ps plus, and I own a series s and ps5 and have subs for both. The games PlayStation gets are frequently better quality than Xbox in ps plus extra than gamepass and gamepass is also filled to the brim with garbage low effort indie games. If your only need for gamepass is Microsoft’s games then sure, but I would bet my ps plus library has much more monetary value. Also if you’re buying a console through payments then maybe you need to take a step back and understand your financial priorities.

Defaced,

It’s always best practice to have a backup just in case. For teamspeak it was ventrilo, for ventrilo it was mumble, then discord, now I have guilded and revolt as backups, for basic forums it was digg, for digg it was reddit, for reddit it’s now lemmy and kbin. It’s just one big cycle of whoever is more innovative.

Defaced,

Looks like a half assed PlayStation cross media bar. It looks pretty terrible.

Defaced,

Valve hard at work making our lives on Linux just a little easier. Gotta love the effort they’ve put in.

Defaced,

Probably stupid question but does this run the risk of any bans if you’re using unauthorized remote play tools?

Defaced,

Almost pulled the trigger on cold war when it was last on sale, same with Alan wake, I’m very glad I didn’t.

Defaced,

Lemmy and kbin, find a community and stick with it or join a bunch. If you really don’t want to use discord for a hangout then there’s revolt and guilded for voip clients. You can also try mastodon and matrix, or really a combo of things.

Does anybody feel like the quality of reddit has already dropped massively?

I see a lot of comments from bootlickers on how the protests are dumb and stupid and dont work and engagement metrics are still holding but the quality of posts and comments has noticeably depreciated imo. So much so that whenever I visit the site Im actually shocked at how bad it is.

Defaced,

My Google searches are definitely getting fewer reddit results. Not sure if that's because I just stopped using reddit and searches are catering towards me, or is it truly is getting less traffic. Who knows, but it's good to see search results that aren't a reddit post.

Defaced,

I applaud their resilience and well thought out solutions, however the damage is done for me. I've moved on, they really should as well, take their experience somewhere that will be appreciated. Good luck /r/pics, you're gonna need it...

Defaced,

Jericho, I know we got the final season comic but it isn't the same. One more season to finish it off would've been perfect.

Defaced,

It's a little more of a setup but you could try endeavour. It's pretty lightweight and performant, they have every kind of DE imaginable to install during the setup.

Defaced,

It also removes capthas which open the floodgates for bots.

Defaced,

Discussion, not news spam, game reviews, organic engagement with like minded individuals. Significant news is fine, but I don't want someone to be posting news articles every 30 seconds from the bot they wrote. I want real engagement in the community about the subject matter.

Defaced,

Okay seriously are you just using a bot to scrape news articles and post them here or are you actually posting every minute? No offense here at all, genuinely curious. I do think the news spam hinders proper discussion though.

Defaced,

I would stick with steamOS, it's designed for the hardware. Windows will only hinder the device IMO. I plan on getting one soon and everyone I've known that has one sticks to the stock config in regards to the software.

Defaced,

I'm hoping for a Galaxy 2 release for the switch, Galaxy on switch was so well done and I've never played Galaxy 2.

I've seen a few discussions about the "failed" protests and wanted to talk about it

So I've seen a few posts regarding news outlets calling the protests a failure, and I don't really think that's the case. The protests have clearly made an impact, especially if the Reddit CEO is willing to oust MODS to reopen subreddits. I truly believe that something has been jump started here on Lemmy, Kbin, and all of the...

Defaced,

Yeah that's understandable, I've gone scorched earth myself, deleted all of my comments and posts as well as my account and I feel better for it, I just hope others come to those terms and follow suit.

Defaced,

This absolutely, it seems like the people that truly wanted a fully community driven platform have left and found an alternative with kbin and lemmy. I've been enjoying my time so far and will continue to stay in the fediverse for as long as possible.

Comments you can hear

Defaced,

I use a pixel 6a, switched over to it from an iPhone 11. I wanted something that worked better than my iphone on Google Fi. I had a ton of issues on Fi with my iphone since it was technically in beta like the cellular settings getting reset. I had a moto g power before and that thing was trash, it worked fine for a while but as soon as you start installing apps it just chugs. The pixel 6a is good enough for me to say I will never buy a non-Google Android phone ever again. The pictures are crazy good, I don't even know how, the sensor is old, software magic I guess.

I also have an m1 Mac mini and a gaming PC running endeavour OS. So far the Android phone works much better on a Linux ecosystem for obvious reasons. No smart watches or anything though, haven't dipped my toes into that space. I will say I was extremely hesitant to move to Android from iOS, iOS is so solid from a stability and compatibility perspective, Apple really has that down to a science. However since switching to a Google created Android phone, it's a night and day difference from my past experiences on Android.
