HA, funny that this comes up. DND Beyond doesn’t have a d100, so I opened my ChatGPT sub and had it roll a d100 for me a few times so I could use my magic beans properly.

Also an excellent method.

This is the kind of story I want to see made into an epic film.

Mega drive-throughs explain everything wrong with American cities (www.vox.com)

Just outside St. Louis, in the inner-ring suburb of University City, there’s a little neighborhood often called the region’s unofficial Chinatown. Growing up in the area, it was one of my favorite places to be; reflective of the city’s diversity and vitality, it opened up the world to me. This past December, when I went...

I always park and walk in too.

It’s almost always easier.

I hate that we know how shitty both of our ruling parties are on this issue (among others) and we are powerless to stop it.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

I mean, it’s not like they have to work that hard.

There has been next-to-nothing done to address the cost of living crisis but our government seems to be able to make hundreds of billions appear out of thin air for yet another foreign war. (And everyone’s just kind of ignoring that we’re at war in several other countries already.)

I’m not Russian. I’m not a troll. I’d just like to see the neglect of Americans in service to warmongers end.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

The American government has the ability to address both.

And yet, they don’t.

That’s the point. Russians don’t have to lie about the neglect of the American people, and pretending that Russia’s the problem here is a little silly to me when the vast majority of Americans are impoverished and definitely being robbed of their labor.

We heard very similar arguments for every war we’ve involved ourselves in since WWII. I recall in 1983 when we absolutely had to render assistance to the good guy, Saddam Hussein, and then a few years later he pointed those weapons at us.

Given enough time, historical precedent will indicate that we were lied to to some degree, and it always boils down to making wealthier people even wealthier. (In this case, warmongers.)

It’s not an attack so much as a reminder that, yeah, our government is doing an exceedingly shitty job of taking care of its people, but they do a great job of making money we don’t actually have appear out of thin air for the war of the month.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

It’s not a lie, though.

We do neglect our people’s needs so we can be involved in like nine wars at once, including Ukraine. Most countries provide for the basic needs of their people and can only maintain a sustained war for months at most.

It’s your right to support that. It’s my right to point out how remarkably shitty it is that we do this to our people.

Thank you for your response.

What substantial difference is there between Democrats and Republicans on Israel?

There isn’t one.

No matter who we elect, Israel gets its charity from the American taxpayer, even though we won’t fund health care or any real aid to our own people.

It’s so weird watching good things happen for the wrong reasons in the Federal Government.

Dragon’s Dogma 2, getting close to 80 hours. I still feel like I’ve only scratched the surface because, now that I’m getting 60’ish level pawns to run in my party, I’m still finding a ton of secrets in areas I’ve already explored extensively. In the game, the pawns you summon can show you secrets about the world that their players have discovered. It’s a neat mechanic.

If you like exploring open worlds, it’s a pretty great game.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

That’s okay.

It’s definitely not for everyone. I like it because it’s fun to explore the world they’ve built, but it’ll be more fun when the launch bugs are worked out.

The article states that the Slovakian government, with this guy’s support, is moving to take control of the media and the former president was being inundated with death threats. Ergo, a fascist by definition.

I don’t want the US funding the Ukraine war either, but calling this guy a ‘skeptic’ or a ‘populist’ and not a fascist, as he clearly appears to be, is pretty shitty reporting, I think.

Someone who knows more please feel free to correct me if I’m misunderstanding something here.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

Yep, and it’s even more strange coming from the Guardian, using a whole lot of words where two seem like they’ll do: fascist takeover.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

That’s so cool!

Thank you for doing your small part to keep them going. I live in a condo building but would definitely have a wild yard if I were a traditional homeowner.

I’m sorry to hear of the depression, but glad you found a good way to cope with it. Depression’s hard.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

Agreed.

They’re still fighting tooth-and-nail to get people back in the office physically five days a week. It’s unthinkable that we’ll ever have a fundamental change to work hours.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

Sadly, the targeting of kids is a longstanding tradition in war. The US does it too, and Trump even honored a child killer at the White House during his term.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

Israel as far as I can tell is just going into a mostly-disarmed-and-civilian population and shooting whoever they feel like

Again, also what the US does. We haven’t fought a war against an opponent that can actually fight back in 50 years. And in that war, the guy that perpetrated the My Lai Massacre got house arrest, but only after someone leaked documents on the massacre to the press.

You can’t really engage as a consumer without enabling shitty practices on some level, and that’s particularly true of electronics.

The phone you’re using to access Beehaw? Assembled by child labor or wage slaves somewhere in Asia. Even if you assembled it yourself, the parts were manufactured unethically.

It’s not just Amazon or Nestle. You might as well criticize someone for breathing because unethical consumption, on some level, is inevitable, particularly so if you live in a capitalist country.

I use Brave because its ad block feature works better than the others I’ve tried, plain and simple.

But, by all means, people can still be as holier than thou as they like.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

Don’t get me wrong. I do the best I can to be ethical in my choices, but it’s just a pet peeve of mine to see people behaving in a holier-than-thou when it’s simply impossible to achieve what they’re pretending to achieve.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

That seems obvious to me, and I’m one of the few who doesn’t want the US involved in this war in the first place.

It seems to me that Ukraine was justified in bombing Russia when they invaded Crimea.
