This is now a recurring feature of tech vaporware. Claiming something that is clearly shit is okay because it does some good, or something that is uselesslt frivolous and speculative will have and important function and use-case in the future.
My condolences to those that have been made fools by this - we all need to keep an eye out for these patterns going forward.
I wanna add: prosecute and sue these thieves. Sue the people who took money to promote these lies. They all deserve to have those ill-gotten funds ripped away.
America’s wealthiest people are also some of the world’s biggest polluters – not only because of their massive homes and private jets, but because of the fossil fuels generated by the companies they invest their money in.
I’ve seen their “fite me bro” style comments and a bit of sussy posts, but I’m otherwise unfamiliar with the deep lore. I agree with Ada’s proposed solution and perhaps in a week their community will have made changes to this behavior.
After spending some time in their threads, hexbear seems pretty drama-pilled. I think saying we can individually block them is cope, they will just bother anybody who doesn’t know about this drama and to block them until the end of time.
Their newsposting and news takes are really good, though.
I agree, and subscribe to Premium. I can’t help but feel, though, thag voting with my wallet towards creators Patreons might actually keep Youtube’s little temper tantrum from hurting me. Patreon is another platform, but its harm reduction. Less problematic.
Really because I subscribe to hundreds of channels and 90% of them have quit posting to youtube. Most seem to focus on Twitch or focus on their Patreon community.
You’re right, they took the incentive away over and over again and drove my favorite creators out. Now that the value is lower and the uncertainty is high - now they’re charging a lot more for the product.
Been an avid Youtube viewer since the very beginning. Now, I’m paying for the site and using a bunch of extensions just to get a worse experience than I was getting on youtube 5 - 10 years ago. After seeing all of my favorite content become unprofitable and die off, I am so ready to jump ship. I think in the immediate future, Patreon and Nebula are providing the alternative that will get creators paid reliably.
Biden defeated Trump by nearly 8m votes in 2020, a substantial if not overwhelming margin of victory. Matters were very different in the electoral college. A combined total of 44,000 votes handed Biden victory in the swing states of Arizona, Wisconsin and Georgia....
I agree with the sentiment that this system is undemocratic. The electoral college in its current form is enpowering the ‘undecided’ voter in swing states to decide the election in the final hour. I disagree with the sentiment that a popular vote would simply disenfranchise conservative voters. See how other countries cope with direct voting and a higher level of democracy - more parties, coalitions, direct ballot initiatives, increase in amount of local representation.
We are constantly coming across bad advice and complaints, and I havr found it deeply confusing to try and filter out. I’m always listening to people who aren’t experts and have no clue what’s best for me - but have offered their opinion and a bit of a persuasive argument, too.
You’re right, this is the only decision where we can’t judge Dorsey’s ethics, and we should be attacking a dozen other positions and mistakes he’s made. If it would even help; twitter addicts probably don’t wanna hear it.
