I’ve driven an EV for five years and made a 50km daily one way commute over rural, highway and city streets for 15 years. I live in Canada and we get snow , freezing rain and more weather. In my experience good driving habits > AWD all day everyday.
Pay attention to the road conditions, don’t drive faster than the weather will allow, get winter tires, keep your brakes maintained, drive a safe speed even when others are impatient, leave room to stop, if the weather is bad enough don’t leave at all, if you must leave plan to leave early enough that you aren’t tempted to make bad driving decisions such as speeding. This isn’t rocket science, but over the last 15 years and 540,000 km I have seen several impatient people pass me in the winter weather just to end up seeing them again in the ditch within 10 minutes. That includes 1 4x4 truck, 1 AWD SUV and at least 2 sedans.
The Bros in the truck all had to climb out the passenger side since it landed on its drivers side, the lady in the SUV was stuck down in the gutter and told me not to worry, she’d call a tow, and in the case of one sedan I ended up driving this small family home, car seat and all. Will AWD help you get yourself out of a slick parking spot, or start up at a red light? Sure, maybe, it depends. But it isn’t really going to help with much else and doesn’t come close to just learning to drive to the conditions.
In all seriousness though Chuck Norris is a right wing weirdo who believes Climate policy is a con game designed to usher in a “one world order” and that evolution isn’t real.
I don’t know about this smart man manipulates idiots theory. Sometimes I think ding dongs can vote ding dongs is sufficient to explain most of the time.
In all seriousness though, it’s the three S model of conservatism. Scared, Stupid, and Selfish. You don’t have to be all three to be conservative, but you’re fucking one of them.
A snippet " The Topic Concentration chart above lends the clearest picture into the implied rationale behind the bans. Namely, the bans are not and have not been about the physical removal of a book from a shelf. The bans instead are meant to:...
When the restrictions come at the expense of marginalized or minority members of society who are every bit as deserving of representation in government services as normative groups.
The northern Italian city of Padua has started removing the names of non-biological gay mothers from their children’s birth certificates under new legislation passed by the “traditional family-first” government of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
On the other hand, one side is adopting fascist methods and ideology while the other side are democrats. What Republicans are doing is using dilution language, and you’ve fallen for it .
This is one of those sayings that took a long time to sink in for me, despite my undergrad economics minor.
It feels like it shouldn’t be true but that’s only if you don’t really understand that business exists to maximize profits, not maximize goods and services provided. Next, that profits can increase even if units sold decreases. In a for profit company the number of units sold or services provided will be the number where profit is the most, not the number where the units/services are the most (unless they happen to be the same).
Think of this old trades saying, if you double your price, but only lose half your customers, you still make the same profits. Data driven business knows this, especially in oligopolistic fields like food production, and it’s likely the reason inflation on food is so bad. They can double the price of a loaf, and half as many people buy, so profits go up , they literally don’t care if you eat, they generate scarcity by producing below their maximum output. They trade production for profit.
That’s just my long ass way of saying “Capitalism must create scarcity to justify its existence.”
The banks, the Realtors and the corpos waiting to turn my home into a rental love it this way. I have a small mortgage in Atlantic Canada, when I bought my home there was a lot of pressure to shop near the top of my pre-approval , which was around $600,000. But to the dismay of my realtor I held out, was flexible, and ultimately found a place for less than half that amount.
If I had just went with the flow, I’d be house poor and spending near $2500 a month on the mortgage, plus much higher property tax and maintenance. I’d also be staring at a fixed rate renewal of close to $3500 a month, or already seen my payments climb near that with a variable rate (another thing they tried to push me into when rates were impossibly low).
And none of them would care, not the realtor who took his cut, not the lender who collects the interest and can repo the hard asset, not the corpo that will buy the home up on fire sale and rent it back to me.
As it is, I’ve insulated myself from rate increases up to a certain amount. But that was all my doing, nobody else gave a lick to help with that.
Hi everyone I’m new to all this so bear with me if I make mistakes. I’m currently running an Unraid server primarily running radarrr/sonarr/Plex etc usually the most it ever has to handle is 4 Plex streams and maybe some ‘downloads’ at the same time. Look at that 7700 non-K , 26W lower power use and within 10% performance on professional video use cases like yours vs the 7700k. Plus the quicksync update like others pointed out. What’s the used price in your market like?
Oh snap yea, sorry I focused on the 7700k vs 6700k when I viewed the sheet. For my money the 7700 wins out. Cheaper price, 65w vs 91w, benchmarks showing comparable performance. In any case I’m sure you’ll be happy either way.
The caveat being if you even planned on tinkering with an overclock. But if you are power cost sensitive I think you probably aren’t interested.
I’ve really been enjoying Brotato premium edition on android and steam. It says it uses no permissions on android but no idea what info they get when you buy it.
Thanks for listing those other games, I’m going to go check them out.
Edit: and I’ve been playing shattered pixel dungeon for 2 minutes and know I will love it.
