I think you’re severely underestimating how stupid some people can be without malicious intent. Not that I’m justifying their behavior in any way, but it’s possible they’re just really stupid.
The problem is not necessarily that the ads are personalized. The problem is, to make them personalized, companies have to collect personal data. This turns you into a product, because they can/will sell your info to other corporations.
What a terrible comic. It very much gives a “I just found out about communism” vibe. Without banks, you wouldn’t even have the choice to get a loan to purchase a house or get starting capital for a business. And about the interest part, do you expect them to be a non profit? How will the banks pay their workers? I agree that the rates are too high, but come on, it’s a service that you choose to make use of.
I never said they were the be-all-end-all of distribution. This comic implies that banks somehow are responsible for providing money to people to buy housing. This is a way larger systemic issue. People should be paid enough to be able to purchase property.
I really want to sleep more than 5-6 hours per night, but I also really do not want to rely on GABAergics/benzos for sleep. Besides, doctors in my country will rarely prescribe them anyway.
If you get a message from someone you never matched with on Tinder, it’s not a glitch — it’s part of the app’s expensive new subscription plan that it teased earlier this year, which allows “power users” to send unsolicited messages to non-matches for the small fee of $499 per month....
$500 per month?? At that point just go to a prostitute a few times a month. The people paying for this are stupid, but on the other hand it’s super sad that Tinder even made this subscription. They know some desperate people are going to subscribe.
I was on vacation in Poland two years ago, so I know how religious they still are (especially compared to other European countries). As for the “traitor” thing, do you not feel it’s betrayal when you treat your own citizens like this?
Long range (LoRa) mesh networks are interesting alternatives to communication, especially when state actors are blocking internet access for various reasons....
Not sure why you decided to ask that person the question like that, but when it comes to AI, LoRA stands for Low-Rank Adaptation. They are used to fine-tune models. Next time be a bit more polite.
Ugh, are all posts on this meme sub “Capitalism bad, Marx good. Uplemmies on the left”? We get it, capitalism is exploitative. Although, I am curious on how the communists on here envision a real communist government. Please share, I’m just curious.
I understand that theory, but like I asked: How does that work in real life? Does there not have to be a governing body to ensure that everyone/every community adheres to the communist philosophy?
The person you replied to is not “adding their own bullshit”, it’s a fair question. If you have separate communities, they will all start to go in their own direction. Some of them might adopt capitalist behaviors, some of them feudalist behavior, etc. So then you get the following issue: You need a governing body or some sort of equivalent to make sure that the separate communities adhere to the same philosophy (at least in broad lines). Then the question arises, how will this be made to work? Do you instate a governing body?
I had never heard of an “art detective” before today, but that’s the coolest job title I’ve ever heard. It sounds very Indiana Jones-ey. (And yes, I understand it’s probably a lot of desk work)
It definitely works on me. I forget to subscribe all the time to people that I’ve watched a bunch of videos of. And I really don’t mind the little reminder.
