Big boss visit next week..... Which I only got told about /second hand/ yesterday.

So of course my boss is freaking out. And is shoving all his anxiety and stress onto his subordinates.

Bunch of vintage electrical test equipment (avo 8, philips scopes) Some AV stuff, some radio stuff and lots and lots of vintage electrical stuff (hairdriers, teasmaids, other appliances)
a few old educational kits too.

Today did some recording and tried out a new setup. Very handy bit of kit for doing remote stuff o.o can stuff up to 6 mics into it and it'll do phantom power (per channel too!) for me to power the condensers.

Will hopefully have the videos up on youtube tomorrow.

Welp.
Think that's Scotiacon off the cards for me now.
The "quiet" space we managed to hide in last year has been converted into event space. There's now nowhere to retreat to that's both out of the way but still social.
Option is loud space in the bar - overwhelming for neurodivergents like me. Plus I cant fucking hear people.
Or exec lounge - excludes people.

So yeah. The /one/ thing that I can actually do here is fucking gone.

We have a shit tonne of audio CDs we need to archive. (possibly records later on)
Is there a fairly automated bit of open source software that we can use that'll make the process as idiot proof as possible?

Think it's time for a change.
Boss is starting to rankle me.

Am supposed to be the "senior" engineer. Both by deed and title. Am yet to see the title and have been doing the deed for the past 3 years.

So in August when one of my engineers chose to retire early. Instead of running anything by me, boss grabbed someone from another department.

Said person is a software engineer. Not electrical.

Flash forward to today. My team is being berated for not getting a price out to his satisfaction.

Bear in mind:
I'm still trying to catch up and finish a project
Chap who is retiring also has enough on.
Technician can't price.
Aaaaand the new guy..... Doesn't have an electrical background. So also can't price!

Anyone want an engineer? Someone who has been in charge of a lab move from design to move in, set up a HV org and HV lab and consistently performs above their pay grade?

Wondering if the engineering gestalt here can help ID this.
Can't find any details on the micron master 200. Can find a few things on the Sony DRO.

It's reading and zeroing, but if moved quickly it'll add on extra to the reading. Can very quickly generate a 200mm error.

Am assuming it'll be some form of LVDT but want to try and get some info before tearing apart.

Workshop here want to continue using it. It stopped reading reliably a week or so ago.
If LVDT am suspecting either excitation is off, or the LVDT itself is Le Buggéred
