Big boss visit next week..... Which I only got told about /second hand/ yesterday.

So of course my boss is freaking out. And is shoving all his anxiety and stress onto his subordinates.

Dear @firefox : Please stop saving images as webp when I drag them out of the browser. Forever stop that. Even if they are webp originally, just give me a setting to auto-convert them to JPEG. When I get a webp file the first thing I have to do is convert it manually if I'm going to do anything with it.

@MisterMoo @firefox I use the extension "Don't accept image/webp" don't know if that would help for your use case. but it does do it for the right click/saveas

I can't fathom why people try to ask for £200 for an EPROM eraser. It's literally a metal box with two or four UV tubes in it, a tray, and a switch. It's a few hours' work with a sheet metal brake and a screwdriver...

Bunch of vintage electrical test equipment (avo 8, philips scopes) Some AV stuff, some radio stuff and lots and lots of vintage electrical stuff (hairdriers, teasmaids, other appliances)

Today did some recording and tried out a new setup. Very handy bit of kit for doing remote stuff o.o can stuff up to 6 mics into it and it'll do phantom power (per channel too!) for me to power the condensers.

Will hopefully have the videos up on youtube tomorrow.

I just misread someone's post about an ambient light sensor as "ambivalent light sensor". I'm not quite sure what use a light sensor which can't tell light from dark is...

Welp.
Think that's Scotiacon off the cards for me now.
The "quiet" space we managed to hide in last year has been converted into event space. There's now nowhere to retreat to that's both out of the way but still social.
Option is loud space in the bar - overwhelming for neurodivergents like me. Plus I cant fucking hear people.
Or exec lounge - excludes people.

So yeah. The /one/ thing that I can actually do here is fucking gone.

@DeltaWye @philpem last year was great. it was a space for peope to just chat and chill and play board games away from the hustle and bustle of a busy bar area.
was perfect for many reasons. With it being a bit quieter, people with sensory issues, where noise causes ALL voices to become a drone, could actually have a decent social interaction.
was on what is effectively the main thoroughfair from rooms to con space (if you planned right) so you could see suters wandering, friends would drop in and out. It was a general nice middle ground between isolation and full bar experience.

It's something that CFz hasn't had for a LONG time. which is the main reason I /cannot/ go now.
So now looks like another con is dead to me.

@philpem @DeltaWye turns out there is a dedicated "quiet area" (so fucking quiet it's not mentioned anywhere)

It's in a bit that used to be a room, that's been un-roomed and now sits on the main corridor....... Next to the artists alley and is right on the corner of the main stage..... Where the dances are.
