I drove this Polestar 4 but I can't tell you about it due to an embargo. But I found a cheeky way to get around it: you guys can just fill in the blanks!
The car rides like [REDACTED] due to its [REDACTED] which acts like a [REDACTED] when you [REDACTED].
Get creative! 😂
I'm doing an unusual money saving exercise this month: using cash and limiting my food budget to $10 a day. Sounds easy in theory.
I'm saving hard all month because an American friend is coming to stay with me in June and I want to give her a good time.
@jonoabroad Day 1 has been a success as I heated up a frozen meal I cooked in a batch last week. Got another one thawing out for tomorrow. Breakfast is going to be boring however...
Today I celebrate my pasty body spinning around this thing 44 times! What a ride it's been so far!
As I do every year on this day of ageing, I unblock all the trolls who did awful things because we're all human; we all make mistakes and we all grow & evolve.
Plus, life's short so have a potato today! 😁
@goinfawr Unfortunately, after 3 months I went in there for an update and they admitted that they had forgotten about me and all my parts were still sitting in a box in the corner. They apologized and said that get right onto it. That was 2 months ago. I've called twice in the last week waiting for an update and haven't heard back yet. Unfortunately it's so far in it's too late now to pull it out and start again because it have to measure everything again and trailer the car elsewhere.
@jonoabroad I would but I don't know anyone in that industry unfortunately. I get so hyper-focused on getting these videos out in time I don't even meet & greet peeps in the sphere. :(
@jonoabroad No worries. What blows me away about my job is how easily NZ car reviewers find the time for 2-day get-away car launches. I've had to turn two down recently because who the hell has TWO SPARE DAYS in a WEEK!?
Turns out, lots and lots of people in the car review industry have it easy. Print media I mean.
Making a video a week on the other hand is INTENSE. I've had no spare time for breaks this week, let alone 48 hours for a leisurely-paced car launch with lunch and dinner etc.
Got some more photos from the dude in China who upgrades tired old Nissan Leafs to new 63 kWh CATL batteries. He uses the same battery casing with only a few millimetres difference in height. It's such a shame no NZ companies are offering this.
Got a price from the guy in China selling retrofit 63kWh batteries for old Nissan Leafs: $5000 USD! 😮
(+ shipping: $400-$500).
Imagine having a tired old Leaf with 400+ km range!
Obviously, buy at your own risk but I'll put his details below if anyone wants to have a go?
Dude's name is Haseeb, based in China. He's retrofitting CATL modules into the existing Leaf battery housing. Here's some of his videos showing the battery modules, housing and install. Looks pretty simple: https://youtube.com/@haseebahmad9528?si=HdJx1GLqNRTPjmLJ
I'm so intrigued. Contact details are sales@yaste.tech or Whatsapp: +86 18824633107
Like I said, buy at your own risk, but $5k USD to turn a tired Leaf into a new car... It's tempting, man...
Holy cow. This battery-powered SUV from Chinese manufacturer Li Mega has a 102 kWh battery (range of around 600 km (372 miles) and has been demonstrated charging from 10% to 80% in under 11 mins, hitting 521 kW peak.
@Rjdlandscapes This comes back to chicken vs egg in regard to super-mega-fast charging vehicles.
We could probably have such chargers, but they'd have to be next to substations or running off battery packs that fill constantly off the grid.
Either way, it's spendy!
