I always assumed guys measured in imperial because metric is numerically smaller. That may be one reason some people don’t want to switch to metric, now I think about it.
There’s definitely been life in other places beyond earth. That’s an unfathomable amount of time for matter not to have self-organised in the unfathomable amount of space that exists before it happened here. It may all be dead by now and we may never see it, but this feels like game over for any earth-centric model that still exists.
Regardless of whether I meant it as a doorway into conversation – and that wasn’t an excuse, but a threshold to conversation – if you’re going to pin me on it, I’ll say yes, I think the odds are nearly 100% life exists not just elsewhere, but everywhere.
I personally think that’s the inevitable conclusion of 3-dimensional space. That’s just my personal opinion, though.
Call me a hack if you like.

Of course, we knew this. A lot of us sent tips to the FBI in the weeks leading up to J6 and they just disappeared into the ether. Nice to see them acknowledge it. I hope they’ve cleaned out at least a bit of the MAGA rot in those agencies.
I haven’t done miniatures before. Printed it ultra fine detail with 0.05mm layers. This came as a kit-card with vestigial sprew work. www.thingiverse.com/thing:4679744 Fun little project. No glue required and fully articulated. For the grappling cable I use 24 gauge flower wire.
He thinks he’s too cute to make me hate him, and I’ll admit it’s difficult, but if this kitten is a fascist, I’m more sad that anything, and really angry at the loser who taught him that.
Kittens aren’t born bigots, bigoted children are made – and doubly-so for a kitten. I just want to hug the cat whilst kicking his fascist teacher in the figs.
(/s out of habit because I don’t know you all yet.)
Wooo! Finally got my account working and left my very active, high-karma, 7 year old account where I was active as a freelance bot bounty hunter, so I’m also taking my freelance bot-squashing away.
I was in a couple of subs* there for like a week after Apollo died because of the learning curve, and now I’m 100% Lemmy and haven’t even checked reddit for a week.
I was actually a customer in addition to a user and cancelled my premium account on Reddit too. As a software UXD and old-school developer on everything from Acorn, Commodore, Intellivision, Basic, but of assembly, VB, Perl, C versions through ++ and #, all the horrid Java incarnations, sql/oracle, and now web, enterprise, unity, and enough deep dives into Reddit’s GitHub to learn its a clusterfuck in there…
I’m done with them. This isn’t something you push a fix for. It’s something you fire your entire executive team over or just give up and let the bots have it. That’s where they are, I think.
Most mature social networks do remove this information to prevent users accidentally sharing their locations. Can someone positively say whether Lemmy is aware enough to strip extra information from photos?
I’m hesitant to name anything specific since time exists and tech fluctuates, but there’s definitely a small, free utility app for your device that will strip exif data from your images.
Search for ‘remove exif’ in your App Store and see what people are saying about the top several apps listed.
(EtA: In nongeek, ‘exif’ data includes the photo’s gps coordinates, specific type of camera or device that created the image, timestamp, and other info, and its all quite easily viewable.).
Nerds use these apps more than most, so their reviews tend to go into some detail. There are certainly apps available that are easy to use on your device. Obviously don’t use an online service for this, either.

Does Lemmy strip photo GPS data?
