Do you cave and use both hands? Do you take the chance and try to use them one-handed when more actively using them? Or do you ultimately submit and get an accessory to kinda help, at least with keeping a hold of them?...
I’ve been on the hunt for a Google Keep replacement and the most obvious choice is Quillpad. However it can only sync with Nextcloud and that functionality is somewhat broken. For example, if I create a To Do list in Quillpad, I can of course check the boxes as items are completed. I can do the same in the Nextcloud instance...
Have you tried the Notes app in Nextcloud? I moved all my keep notes to that not too long ago, and they show up as markdown files when you sync them to your desktop. There’s a Notes Android app as well.
What use to be the PPA that allowed Ubuntu users to use native .deb packages for Firefox has recently changed to the same meta package that forces installation of Snap and the Firefox snap package....
I like the approach Pop OS takes. Their software store lets you choose between deb or flatpak when you install software. I’ve had issues with flatpak versions of some software, and flipping to the deb package usually fixes it.

Been trying to buy a house because my rent is going up(and it will continue to do so) and a mortgage would be around the same as what my rent will become in a few years anyway so I figure I might as well build equity and have a house for my family....
For a whole new level of frustration, try to research any HOA before you buy a house. Their rules aren’t typically disclosed until after you buy the house put in your offer and enter escrow.
That may seem like an oxymoron, but I’m looking for some sort of server that I can self-host where I can edit blog posts and whatnot, but that then deploys to something like neocities (or any other pure static host)....
I use a local text editor and push the git repository, which triggers automation to generate and publish the content. vscode is my editor for that work.
I’m currently running Arch and it’s great, but I’m noticing I’m not staying on the ball in regards to updates. I’ve been reading a bit about Nix and NixOS and thinking of trying it as my daily driver. I’ve got a Lenovo x1 xtreme laptop, I don’t do much gaming (except OSRS), use firefox, jetbrains stuff, bitwarden,...
I can understand how the system config can be back in that short amount of time. How does data backup and restore work in Nix? Is it different than other distros?
Since my main lemmy’s password is locked behind Bitwarden, I had to make a new account to post. Originally I started using passwords manager because I keep forgetting passwords. But my paranoid ass is so worried that someone saw me typing my Bitwarden master password so I feel the urge to change it. So now I forgot the new...
I use a yubikey with a static password set in slot 2. There’s a shorter mental password I add to the static password. Those combined mean my master password to my password manager is something I know and something I have.
I’ve subscribed to a plethora of communities that really interest me and actually have posts and discussions in them, but I have to go to the specific community to see this. My “Subscribed” feed only contains a few of the same posts that I’ve seen for weeks in Hot, the same posts from even longer ago in “Active”,...
I run my own single user instance, and it was down as well. Not sure why someone would target a single user instance. Not ruling it out, but it seems unlikely.
The experience is pretty good except for discoverability of new communities. My Subscribed and All feeds are the same. I started with the official local development docker-compose file and massaged it into place for my setup.
We recently had our heater changed to a heat pump and whilst producing the same amount of heat, it's also very energy efficient, using a good chunk less energy than our previous heater....
For those with larger phones, how do you handle them without grip accessories?
