LiquorFan,

“Friki” was popular when I was a teen, but that comes from the English, “freak”. And obviously we use nerd and geek sometimes.

Are ranged weapons just worse than melee?

I’m GMing for a group where everyone (including myself) is entirely new to Pathfinder. We had our session 0 recently followed by a quick practice combat. The thing I noticed from that, plus a little theory crafting of building a low level character myself, is that people using ranged combat felt very underwhelming compared to...

LiquorFan,

I don’t think they are worse, they just do less damage. A lot of the value of ranged combat depends on the map layout, if there are places to take cover, choke points, difficult terrain. And also it requires coordination with the rest of the party to be very effective, if everyone grabs a ranged weapon they can shot at enemies while they get close, then switch to melee when they are in reach.

LiquorFan,

But I hate the service, it’s the only service around though.

LiquorFan,

I’ve been thinking that pornhub might make a good competition if they made a safe for work version.

LiquorFan,

Honestly I’m surprised they haven’t done so already, they already have the tech to do it, probably need to scale it a bit.

Now I wonder if there aren’t SFW videos in pornhub from people that want to upload videos but don’t want to use YouTube. Or NSFW video that aren’t really porn, like a random guy reviewing videogames naked for some reason. I’m not checking either.

LiquorFan,

He did, wraith-killing swords for example.

LiquorFan,

Of course we do. As long as they accept the Euro and change road signs to metric. I honestly don’t know which one would feel worse for the English.

LiquorFan,

It’s been a while since I played 5e, but if I remember correctly you could do some fuckery with Haste and/or Sorcery Points if you don’t follow that rule.

LiquorFan,

Better yet, expand universities and allow everybody in.

LiquorFan,

In my country university is free, some have a test you have to pass because there are so many people that want to go, but those are law and medicine. And most people drop out in the first year.

Otherwise it’s not really an issue.

LiquorFan,

I think most people in those mayors drop out, not overall. My guess is that people know you can make a lot of money there but then realize they don’t actually like it.

I don’t think it’s a big issue though, some public money might be “wasted”, but you give everyone a chance which find perfectly acce.

LiquorFan,

Most of the core deities are in Starfinder, so I think we can discard them. Maybe they get revived or Starfinder is an alternate timeline but I’m not going to assume that.

That leaves 9 deities: Erastil, Gorum, Gozreh, Irori, Nethys, Norgorber, Rovagug, Shelyn, Torag.

I think some of those have explanations of why they aren’t in Starfinder. Torag I remember reading is guarding Golarion, wherever the planet is. Rovagug is either The Devourer or still inside Golarion. Gozreh is specifically a Golarion deity, so he/she is almost certainly still there. Erastil really doesn’t fit Starfinder setting, so I think he is still around, but probably the people that worship him are not traveling in starships. Gorum and Nethys seem to be like weird choises to kill off, I don’t think they are part of any current storyline and I can’t really see the god of magic that knows everything dying, same with the god of war though he might enjoy that. Similarly with Irori and Norgorber, I don’t think they dying would be dramatic enough.

So my bet is on Shelyn, it will probably involve Zon-Kuthon. And we already have the perfect replacement for the deity of art I think, Nocticula.

LiquorFan,

Interesting, I didn’t know that. My Starfinder lore is pretty lacking since I don’t play it.

If Shelyn is out, I don’t know where to place my bet, the rest seems equally likely to me.

LiquorFan,

Gotta say, the second one does sounds more fun. Like we live in a d&d game or something.

LiquorFan,

I know, I was pointing out that it sounds like a total fantasy. I actually don’t believe people actually believe all that stuff, but it’s up there in yankeeland so what do I know.

I understand why conspirancy theories are popular, it is fun to me to think about them. But I don’t believe and the few interactions I had with conspiracy theorists online make me think they are all hard trolling or insane.

Bards are Baldur's Gate 3's best class and I can't imagine playing it as anything else (www.pcgamer.com)

I was planning on paying a rogue, paladin, or warlock (based on my tabletop characters), but this article nearly has me convinced. I am waiting for the PS5 release, so any agreement or dissension from my PC friends? Other class recommendations?...

LiquorFan,

It’s not a problem for a videogame, but D&D5e (actually most D&D editions) is not a balanced game at all. In fact the only RPG that I’ve played and would call balanced is Pathfinder 2e.

So I was not expecting Baldur’s Gate to be balanced at all given it’s based on D&D5e.

LiquorFan,

You won’t be sedentary after a month of that though!

LiquorFan,

Paradox launchers allow you to manage your mod playsets, it’s pretty useful. That’s the only ones I know that have utility though.

What social taboos that exist today do you think will not be around in 100 years?

I was reading a book on social life of the upper-middle class and new rich of the American 1920s and realized so many things we now do proudly were considered socially taboo back then. This was especially the case for clothing, makeup, women in certain public spaces, etc. What do you think will be different in the 2120s? Or...

LiquorFan,

Pants are for barbarians after all. Real, civilicedmen wear togas only. Chitons are acceptable but just barely.

What are some good "sticky" monsters/npc's to use as frontliners?

I have a group that is very mobile and I want to start challenging them more/give the enemy caster a turn or two to get cooking. What are some good enemy frontliners? I realize I could just have the frontliners they run past just do the same thing and go after the casters, but that feels a bit chaotics and I like me a nice...

LiquorFan,

Really depends on what level you are playing, I like Graveknights, pair them with a lich or a vampire, and a bunch skeletons and zombies fodder and you have a great boss battle.

LiquorFan,

Call it the Mathfinder System, embrace the meme.

LiquorFan,

idk mate, I just decide to sleep and eventually I do.

LiquorFan,

It makes sense though. People can already install Dolphin wherever they want, including the Steam Deck. But Valve probably thinks they can get Nintendo to publish on Steam. It wasn’t so long ago that Sony and Microsoft maintained exclusivility on their platforms. Valve doesn’t win anything allowing Dolphin on Steam, but it can potentially anger Nintendo.

LiquorFan,

I was up into the 100s or 200s attempts when my controller broke lol. I’m bad at this game, but it’s fun.
