MicrowavedTea,

The original image said windows where this would be accurate but I doubt it applies to the average linux user

Sticky trick: new glue spray kills plant pests without chemicals (www.theguardian.com)

The insect glue, produced from edible oils, was inspired by plants such as sundews that use the strategy to capture their prey. A key advantage of physical pesticides over toxic pesticides is that pests are highly unlikely to evolve resistance, as this would require them to develop much larger and stronger bodies, while bigger...

MicrowavedTea,

This is good news but I love that our current standard is at “not nearly as disastrous side-effects”

MicrowavedTea,

Also worth mentioning you can copy more files on it afterwards and it works as normal storage too.

MicrowavedTea,

Technically there is Samsung Pay and Garmin Pay. But Samsung is not exactly better than Google and Garmin Pay sadly requires a Garmin watch.

MicrowavedTea,

It’s not a weird animal but cats. Stray cats are literally everywhere and aren’t afraid of people so many will stop to pet them. And on the other hand, when visiting other countries, the lack of street cats does strike me a bit weird.

MicrowavedTea,

Greece but pretty sure it applies for Turkey too

MicrowavedTea,

I don’t know what happens with dogs (there aren’t that many strays) but most street cats were never pets, they’ve always been free. There is an effort to reduce them that’s definitely failing.

MicrowavedTea,

It always seems weird seeing most people in busses/trains doing nothing. That’s one of the biggest advantages of having someone else drive you.

MicrowavedTea,

If you’ve come across the short story Guts at some point, it’s apparently part of the book Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk. I haven’t read the whole book so not sure what the other stories are like but this story is really trying to be both gross and fucked up.

All the ways streaming services are aggravating their subscribers this week (arstechnica.com)

Below is a look at the most exasperating news from streaming services from this week. The scale of this article demonstrates how fast and frequently disappointing streaming news arises. Coincidentally, as we wrote this article, another price hike was announced....

MicrowavedTea,

Why does it feel like lately more and more articles fit Not The Onion or A Boring Distopia?

Is anyone using VMware under a Wayland host?

I’ve been using VMware Player (free version) for a while now and it’s been working fine. Recently I switched to Wayland and VMware’s grab input behavior broke. The guest gets most keys correctly but Alt and Super are intercepted by the host. Clicking on the vm also gives me a remote desktop popup on the host prompting to...

MicrowavedTea,

Especially useful when the specific thread is now the first result on Google.

MicrowavedTea,

I’d ask what I’m looking at here but feel I might regret it

MicrowavedTea,

Because it’s something you use a lot for small things throughout the day. When you need to quickly answer a message or look at a map you shouldn’t need to stop and place down everything you’re holding.

MicrowavedTea,

Pocket space is only half the problem. The other half is one-handed use and the flip is huge when opened.

MicrowavedTea,

Next step is for people to also start using it and we’ll experience the beginning of AI generated slang

MicrowavedTea,

I do see one point specifically for outros and specifically for YouTube. It gives you enough time to click pause before automatically jumping to the next video on the playlist. But that’s more due to YouTube’s stupid behavior than an actual advantage.

MicrowavedTea,

The good thing is GoPros are still good years later. Most of the action my GoPro 4 has seen was in the last 2-3 years after sitting for a really long time.

MicrowavedTea,

If you exclude the progressively smaller furniture I think I’ve been to some IKEAs that felt like this.

MicrowavedTea,

Not sure if this applies to the US but for most things you buy from a supermarket the generic supermarket brand is usually just as good or even better than the big brands. And it’s usually much cheaper.

MicrowavedTea,

Watching game shows like the voice or masterchef of other countries to get a feeling of “real” language/accents. Usually movies or the news use a more formal and clear language but when you understand these shows you know you can understand people in everyday conversations.

MicrowavedTea,

Recommendations on YouTube are pretty bad but there is still good content. You just need to find some good channels and basically only browse the subscriptions tab. It’s a much better experience

MicrowavedTea,

I don’t know if you count the A series but most people I know buy that and not the S series, and that’s usually much cheaper than a pixel. Also I feel like it’s an unpopular opinion here but I really like OneUI and once you get used to it, it may not be convenient to change back to stock.

MicrowavedTea,

Not sure about languages but do headphone letters actually get translated? I’ve always seen them as L-R.
