It’s a slap in the face to those who’ve died by suicide due to mental health-related issues to believe that all suicides are an act of being dissatisfied with one’s life and nothing more. This idea diminishes all the struggles they have experienced throughout the whole ordeal.

Do something for someone “just because” Don’t wait for a reason or for “when you have the time”. Don’t do it for recognition, clout, or with the hopes of them reciprocating. Do it for family, friends, and even strangers. A simple good deed could save a life.

Today is mental health awareness day. So is tomorrow and the day after that. Every single day is. Take care of yourself and those around you. Life is a team sport, and if we don’t play like it is, we will lose many games and many more teammates.

People don’t choose to have a mental illness or to die by suicide as a result of said mental illness. Your ignorance to believe otherwise, however, is a choice and a dangerous one at that.
