After looking at them for a while, and waiting to see if they’d have some sales during Black Friday, went and pulled the trigger on a Weber Q.

Tried it for the first time yesterday, making some slow cooked lamb shanks. Never cooked lamb before, and tbh only have ever had lamb a handful of times. Came out better than expected!

We’re currently looking after a friends cat at our place, and was wondering if anyone had some tips to get them “acclimated”?

It’s been a couple of days, and she’s pretty shy, and even while purring etc, will suddenly start hissing and swatting at you. Though eating and drinking well, and going to the bathroom often which is good to see.

We’ve started ignoring her until she comes to us for attention, which seems to be making things a little bit better.

Yeah I guess so haha. The only reason it’s extra annoying at the moment, is that she’ll sit right in the middle of the corridor, where it meets the stairs. Trying to go past is like a game of will you get swatted/bit roulette

Made a giant draining sponge/accessory holder for my kitchen sink. (lemmy.world)

I printed a small sponge holder a while back and have been using it about a year now. Ive been seeing these ads for silicone drainers lately and decided to make something similar. This is actually v2. The first one had a separate base and grates on top but I didn’t like how it turned out. This is a combined grate and base....

Yeah I’ve seen a lot of posts online talking about that. Though I usually have a list of things I’ve been looking at for a while, so I know their ‘regular’ prices, and can always compare to that.

I’ve heard of GrapheneOS, and have always been meaning to do some more reading into it - and I’ve always wanted a pixel phone, but they make it such a hassle to get one in NZ.

Yeah, I think no google would be pretty tough, but i’d like to try and diversify and have the backup option if needed :)

Update: After all the horror stories I’ve seen online, Super happy (apart from the months it’s taken to get to this point) with the exterior build work they’ve done.

Hopefully now it wont take too long to do the internal ONT Connection :)

On some jogs around the area, I’ve seen some shocking Fibre Installs. Saw one that had the black micro-duct that the fibre optic cable goes into just loosely wrapped around the power pole, and a few that had excess micro-duct just spaghettied, and tied to the middle of the pole.

Oh yeah! haha, that was definitely a thing. I remember getting nervous, wondering if I had the date correct, or if the plan would actually be rolling over exactly at midnight :)
