I think all the really loud cars and motorcycles that drive by my house are actually illegal in my city but I'm not sure what I can do about them. I could try to file a noise complaint but it seems tricky to get a glimpse at the vehicle's license plate when I'm in my house.

I'm realizing that maybe popular accounts that post a lot of kink/transformation art and get a lot of engagement playing into it might have twisted my perception of what a normal amount of affirmation and attention actually is.

I think a complicated factor is that several of the people I've seen putting on this kind of persona are people I actually used to talk to and spend time with in the past before they drifted away (from me, but not with each other?), and I don't think I realized that you still have to watch out for parasocial stuff with people you have personally met and spent time with.

I definitely don't want to make my public image kink related, but I wish there were spaces where maybe I could get affirmation for being a rubber mouse girl or something, because it's really fulfilling (in a vaguely gender-y way?) but I just can't really seem to get people to engage with it very much. Maybe there's a way to do that without being like, an Influencer™ for fetish stuff

I really need to figure out how to find friends in timezones similar to mine, because the current situation where I can't spend time with people unless I ignore my job or don't go outside is not good

While waiting for Cyberchase to come on I saw an episode of Hero Elementary where a character being autistic was treated as a positive thing (and a special interest helped out with solving a problem that popped up in the story) and I think it was handled respectfully. That was cool to see!

I'm playing with updating my old NES Dr.Mario clone after finally getting to play it with someone else showed that there's a lot of stuff that really needed fixed, or that could be better.

It felt cool to get to play a Dr.Mario that was fast though.

I've still been checking out the events calendars for Fort Wayne and I think it might finally be warming up to where there's going to be outdoor events with food trucks and stuff. I see there's one next weekend that explicitly says there will be food trucks, and I'm excited to check it out and find out.

I do notice a big problem where most local events seem like they're intended specifically for little kids, but sometimes I can find things that aren't.

I went and implemented an old idea for a Tilemap Town feature where you can specify an image to be a "wallpaper" for a map, which gets drawn over any place where the map's default floor type appears (or replacing all floors, if you want).

You can use it to have some fancy repeating terrain to build on, or just directly put a screenshot of a map from a video game into Tilemap Town that you can move around on with friends.

It does feel kind of fitting in a weird way that my last hours spent online on 3DS involved me assuring people that yes, it's not scary or hard to hack a 3DS, and you're not likely to brick anything. Taking the "it's easy to hack a 3DS" meme all the way to the official end of the 3DS.

@asie I noticed there was an exploit found for the old 3DS that does not require the eShop (or the friends feature, which I saw seedminer want), and I was glad to see it

I think it would be nice to revisit my ca65 automatic bank picker script ( https://github.com/NovaSquirrel/snrom-template-auto-bank/blob/master/tools/uncle_fill.py ) and try to make it more useful for more consoles than just SNES, if I can figure out a good way to do that.

I do have some basic NES support in there, but projects that are complicated enough to need a tool like this are probably on something like MMC3, not UNROM.

Maybe I can build something generic that can handle arbitrary 8KB bank stuff for both NES and PC Engine?

I'm using Animal Crossing: New Leaf's "talk to random strangers online" feature and everyone is so open about talking about Pretendo and custom firmware and everything.

I guess there's no reason not to be; what's Nintendo going to do, ban me from the service they're shutting down tomorrow?

I hung around on Animal Crossing for the last few hours I could today, all the way until I got a random error and got kicked out. I'm glad I did that, and I'm glad I checked out Mario Kart 7 and Smash 4 again while I could too.

Unfortunately you can't access the Chicken Wiggle level browser even though it uses its own server and that server is still online. I wouldn't expect that server to stay up forever at this point, but I also don't know what I can do without understanding how the API is encrypted.

@roxy Yes, I saw in Citra's debugging tools that when you open the level browser, the game attempts to reach out to the 3DS friends service for some reason, which of course now fails. This also made it more difficult to get information while the service was still going, because Citra did not support the things it was asking the friends service to do so I could just not log in and browse levels except on my actual 3DS. Citra seems to do high level emulation of the 3DS OS and I guess not all of it was implemented yet?

Looks like Chicken Wiggle's levels are preserved, but in the form of being carried over to an upcoming HD version for Switch releasing in June.

Sure, I'll take that! As long as they're still playable in some form that's great!

I feel like there's a lot of pressure to make all social activities be voice calls. I think a lot of the time it's actually a lot more enjoyable when it's text-only, and I can put on nice music and there's no weird awkwardness or people talking over each other.

@Setsune Yeah people not giving me enough room to talk has been a very frequent problem, though at least in work meetings there's the ability to virtually put my hand up, which helps.

It's hard to tell exactly to what degree I should advocate for myself and push to have stuff happen that I can be part of without having to be uncomfortable.

A ton of people act like it's unavoidable, and if I'm not willing to put up with being uncomfortable I'm just not going to get to spend time with people. I can't tell how true that is, but at least I think it's a little less true than people say.

I noticed not super long ago that Second Life is slightly less dead than I thought, and that I was missing a good chunk of the communication (and even people saying hi to me) by having voice turned off. But Second Life also lets an area disable voice chat within it, so consequently it does have text-only areas where you don't have to call people to join in, and I usually just visit those.

I figured other 3D hangouts had a culture of expecting everyone to want to be in a call, so I've still been staying away from them, but there's always this feeling that I'm missing out by not wanting to call strangers.

Turns out Tilemap Town had a mistake in the autotile lookup table (1 instead of -1) that I didn't catch until now, because it looked ok with the graphics I was testing with
