NovaSquirrel

@NovaSquirrel@chitter.xyz

I'm a hobbyist game developer who mostly focuses on old Nintendo consoles, but I've done projects on PC too.

I'm a furry and I like to make cute characters and also make games about them! Check out my Toyhouse to see my characters: https://toyhou.se/NovaSquirrel

I'd like to meet other people who like to do lighthearted, story-driven roleplay.

I post NSFW sometimes but I tag it, so please be 18+ if you follow.

Feel free to reach out if you have common interests and wanna be friends! [she/her]

Slipstream and SVatG presents.... Immaterial! Proudly resented for the first time at Revision 2024, the first full demoscene production on the Wii U!

This was incredibly difficult to keep a secret. I created all the 3D models for thos project, and @vurpo did an amazing job with the materials.

Thank you to my awesome friends who worked together to create it! @halcy @aldroid @mrsbeanbag ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

With gba-link-connection, a set of C++ libraries for providing Serial Port functionality in Game Boy Advance homebrew games, it is now possible to send multiboot ROMs to other GBA systems via Wireless Adapter.

Learn about how it works at https://github.com/afska/gba-link-connection/blob/master/docs/wireless_adapter.md#wireless-multiboot and check out the library repo on GitHub https://github.com/afska/gba-link-connection

Video demonstration by Afska below (originally posted on the GBADev Discord).

Footage by Afska of a Game Boy Advance with a Wireless Adapter attached sending a simple Hello World multiboot app to be accepted by another GBA and two GBA SPs.

Old blogpost bamp:

#BlueSky is cosplaying decentralization
https://rys.io/en/167.html

> BlueSkyโ€™s decentralization is a similar kind as with cryptocurrencies: sure, you can run your own node, but that does not give you basically any meaningful agency in the system.

> โ€œNeutralityโ€ and โ€œspeechโ€ and โ€œvoiceโ€ and โ€œprotection from bansโ€ is mentioned right there, front and center, in BlueSkyโ€™s overview and FAQ. At the same time moderation and anti-harassment features are, at best, an afterthought.

Some recent Game Boy homebrew game releases and updates for your consideration :ohboy:

Starseed by Rocketship Park/EGVoom โ€” avoid asteroids, take down enemy ships and destroy targets in this top down cosmic shooter, currently available as a one level demo.
https://rocketshippark.itch.io/starseed

Piropa by SG/zenzoa is a relaxing pet frog simulator. See your pet froggy grow to one of six different adults as you feed them different bugs you can catch, take care of a small flower garden with them and more.
https://zenzoa.itch.io/piropa

Libbet and the Magic Floor by @PinoBatch is a puzzle game about exploring levels by chaining together colored floor tile combinations to pass through. The game has been recently updated with several QoL improvements.
https://github.com/pinobatch/libbet/releases/tag/v0.08

Simple Snake Gameboy by Shen Mansell is a classic Snake game complete with 3 levels of difficulty, 8 levels, several game achievements, custom snake colors and endings depending on your final score.
https://shenmansell.itch.io/simple-snake-gameboy

Screenshot from Piropa by SG, the adult pet frog is seen watering a flower in the small garden section of the pond they live in. Located above are five buttons with various actions: give medicine, clean your pet, check pet's stats, swipe poop and change time of the day.
Screenshot from Libbet and the Magic floor by PinoBatch, showing a 6-by-6 level filled with four kinds of floor tiles. The protagonist Libbet is seen standing in the center. Current floor tile chain counter is 37%, or 22/58.
Screenshot from Simple Snake Gameboy by Shen Mansell, showing a blue snake getting the 15th collectible pink heart needed to pass one of the levels with brick walls and grassy floor on medium difficulty. Current score is 360.

I think I've looked at enough roleplay ad directories to realize that if it's not furry-specific it's not going to help me, because there will just be zero furries on the site. But that sucks because I'm not sure there are furry ones. Does anyone know of any (that are not erotic)?

This "new normal" of constant reinfection with a disease that carries a high risk of disability is neither sustainable, nor does it resemble what we were told to expect in 2021. Read every word of this piece https://www.thegauntlet.news/p/how-the-press-manufactured-consent

I'd like to turn my web game Tilemap Town ( https://novasquirrel.com/town/ ) into a space to hang out in-character. It's sort of like a graphical version of a MUCK (with inspiration from BYOND "building games" and Second Life and similar), and it's open source and has a documented protocol and a 3DS client.

I'm aiming for something lighthearted and whimsical, and specifically targeted at cute furry characters, where the setting being some sort of digital world explains away being able to build and such.

Fascinating both for what it says about dev & what it says about statistics:

A gamedev realized Linux users were just 5.8% of their sales, but represented 38% of bug reports.

Then they looked at those numbers closer, and realized. Linux users were not experiencing more bugs. Almost none of the Linux-user bugs were Linux-related. Linux users were simply more likely to file bugs.

Their conclusion: A linux port pays for itself bc it nerdsnipes ppl into giving u free QA
